The Phantom Rant: WWE Money In The Bank 2026 hopes and thoughts
Greetings conversationalists all across the world wide web. It is I, the one and only “Phantom Lord” Joseph Davis and this is The Phantom Rant. I am coming to you as always from a New York City and it’s been a week since the tragic news of the death of PAC. I honestly was trying to write something about him, but I found it too emotional as his death hit me a bit harder than I thought it did. I mean he had a damn good match the night before with Andrade and the next day he’s gone. His death has brought back memories of when Eddie Guerrero died. Almost similar circumstances. But AEW put on a great tribute show last Wednesday and I have to commend everyone involved for getting through the show.
The biggest shock of the night was Bryan Danielson returning to the ring to tag with the Death Riders against The Don Callis family. With all the news in the past about his neck being pretty messed up so much so that flying on a plane brings him a lot of pain and discomfort…seeing Bryan be Bryan one more time was the cap on a perfect night for PAC. I can only hope PAC is at peace now his memory will live on forever. Vaya Con Dios PAC.
Moving along, the WWE’s Money In The Bank event is coming up this weekend and I think they need some serious shake ups with the show and going forward from it. With the Men’s MITB match, I think without question Penta needs to win this match. He’s red hot right now and he would benefit the most from winning the briefcase. The match is pretty loaded though with the aforementioned Penta along with Bron Breakker, Je’Von Evans, Trick Williams, CM Punk and Kevin Owens. I can’t see Evans winning. He’s just too young and not nearly high enough on the card to be believable as a World champion contender.
Bron Breakker is stuck in a holding pattern. He could be a wild card to win the match, but I don’t see it happening. Trick Williams is all ready US Champion so he doesn’t need the briefcase as well. Punk and Owens are too big to carry around the briefcase for who knows how long. Plus I’m enjoying Sami Zayn being all paranoid because he has so many potential challengers. Punk and Owens don’t need to win the MITB to make Sami paranoid.
That leaves Penta as my pick to win. Question is does he cash in that night on the winner of Roman Reigns vs. LA Knight or does he hold onto it and torment Sami a bit as champion?
Roman vs. LA Knight is an interesting match up. I really want to see LA Knight win the big one. He’s been so close yet so far away so many times. The WWE needs a shakeup and I think LA Knight winning the title would do just that. LA Knight as I said has been denied that moment so many times. Roman as champion has been done. It’s time for something new and improved. Of course LA Knight could win the title only for the Men’s MITB winner (I’m hoping for Penta) to come running down and cash in win the title. So LA Knight would be a World Champion…if only for a few minutes. That seems like something they would do to him. Serves him right for getting and keeping himself over.
The Women’s MITB match is a little less confusing. I’m almost certain that Roxanne Perez is going to win the MITB briefcase for the women. The match includes Sol Ruca, Lola Vice, Jacy Jayne, Tiffany Stratton and Lash Legend. Legend is apparently the odds on favorite to win for some reason according to insiders and stuff. But I’m going with The Prodigy. It makes more sense for her to hold the Women’s MITB briefcase over Lash Legend. They have been positioning Roxanne as the one in the Judgment Day who hasn’t held a title. So it would make sense for her to win so I’m hoping she does. I wouldn’t see her cashing in right away unlike a potential Men’s cash in later in the night. I just don’t see the potential in Lash Legend as a Women’s Champion…right now. Someday sure, but right now…no.
This MITB briefcases can make or break a superstar. So far as the WWE keeps noting, its a 100 percent cash in rate for the women. So whoever wins the match is almost certainly going to be either the WWE Women’s Champion on Smackdown or the Women’s World Champion over on RAW. That’s why I think Roxanne is more likely to win than Lash Legend. Roxy is primed to be a champion right now. I mean I like Liv Morgan, but it would be more fun Roxanne to be able to challenge for the championship while Liv stews over it.
I’m assuming Stephanie Vaquer will retain the Women’s championship at MITB in the triple threat against Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan. If somehow Liv wins back the title, her and Roxy would have an interesting dynamic kinda like the one they did with Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton where everyone was waiting for Tiffy to cash in. But I hope Liv doesn’t win…especially if she’s only going to defend the title once every couple of months.
So to recap I am hoping for the following.
Penta wins the Men’s MITB Briefcase.
Roxanne Perez wins the Women’s MITB Briefcase.
LA Knight wins the World Heavyweight Championship.
These are three things that need to happen and would make me happy for once.
On that note I am done for this week. I am sorry for any delay as usual. Like I said, PAC’s death honestly threw me for a loop as I’m sure it did everyone else and I just didn’t know what to write. So until next time take care everyone.
