News regarding former WWE star Sheamus potentially signing with AEW

It’s believed that former WWE star Sheamus (Stephen Farrelly) is now a free agent after he “rejected a restructured extension” from the company earlier in 2026.

According to WrestleVotes Radio, AEW management is expected to have interest in signing Sheamus following the expiration of his WWE contract. A source also indicated that several AEW wrestlers are in favor of bringing him into the company.

There is currently no indication that Sheamus has agreed to join AEW or that the two sides have reached a deal. Sheamus has yet to publicly comment on his future, although he noted in July that he was still working out and felt like he was in “the best shape of his life.”

While learning that there is expected to be interest from AEW, @WrestleVotes Radio on @FightfulSelect heard from a source saying that a handful of AEW talent are in favor of Sheamus joining the company.
