Sami Zayn regains the WWE Title from CM Punk on SmackDown

During the September 11th 2026 edition of SmackDown, CM Punk defended the WWE Championship against Sami Zayn.

Johnny Gargano attempted to interfere as Zayn looked for a roll-up, but Punk kicked out at two. Zayn then applied another figure-four leglock before Candice LeRae interfered as Zayn transitioned into the Anaconda Vice.

Gargano attempted to hit Punk with the WWE Championship, but Punk countered with the GTS. Zayn then reached for the title, but Kevin Owens ran in. Owens accidentally struck Punk, allowing Zayn to hit Owens with a low blow.

Zayn then hit Punk with the Helluva Kick and scored the pinfall, becoming the new WWE Champion.
