Jerry Lawler comments on a street being named after him near Treadwell Middle School in Memphis
Memphis, TN city leaders have officially renamed a stretch of Homer Street in honor of Jerry “The King” Lawler, further cementing the WWE Hall of Famer’s legacy. The newly designated Jerry Lawler Street is located in front of Treadwell Middle School, a location reportedly chosen by Lawler himself.
Lawler stated the following to people in attendance…
“Wow, it’s amazing to stand here and look and see not only people, but famous people out here today to give me an honor of having a street named after me. And to have all the people here to be part of it, it’s a big deal to me.
This was a street that I lived over on Vernon Avenue, not far from here. Every morning, I would get up, get myself ready to go to school, walk down to get to Macon Road, then I hit this road here and came right down to Treadwell High School. And it was so many memories on the street.”
