News regarding Kofi Kingston and Austin Creed (formerly Xavier Woods) potentially signing with AEW
On May 2nd 2026, it was reported that The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods aka Austin Creed) mutually agreed to part ways with WWE. It was noted by Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline that the two men “were asked to restructure” their contracts, but they didn’t like the deals, so they were then granted their release.
Fightful.com stated this week that “while sources wouldn’t outright confirm that Austin Creed and Kofi have signed with AEW, it was noted to Fightful Select that it’s expected that they are joining the company soon.” There is currently speculation around a potential appearance at AEW’s All In 2026 PPV event from Wembley Stadium at the end of the month.
During the August 12th 2026 edition of AEW Dynamite, Swerve Strickland confronted AEW Trios Champions “Hangman” Adam Page and Brodido, only for Swerve to be mocked by The Demand for not having any partners. This led to fans on social media suggesting the idea of Kofi and Creed teaming with Swerve. Swerve once gave a shout-out to Kofi in a promo on AEW Collision.
Kofi and Creed will be guests on AEW star Chris Jericho’s next Rock ’N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea cruise. The cruise first launched in 2018 and will return for its seventh edition, sailing from Miami, Florida, to Bimini, Bahamas, from November 7th-11th 2026.
The moment is shattered!
The Demand interrupt the occasion and make their presence felt!
