Chelsea Green on women’s U.S. title win: “The fans got so behind me that they forced WWE to make that decision”
While speaking to Kat Siggers, Chelsea Green reflected on being the first women’s United States champion in WWE history…
“I think one really beautiful thing about that belt is I won it because the fans got so behind me that they forced WWE to make that decision.
Truly, I felt like I didn’t just win it for myself. I won it for all the people that were cheering for me. And the moment that I went to hit my finisher in the ring, you can see it and feel it and hear it if you go back and watch those clips.
And now, because they pushed so hard for me and we collectively did it, that can never be erased from the history books. Until the day that I die, I will always be the first-ever United States Women’s Champion.
And I love that. You know, when I think about the packages that you see on TV for the titles, they have to include me because I was the first.”
