Update on CM Punk’s disappearance from WWE television since WrestleMania 42

As seen during WWE WrestleMania 42 Sunday, Roman Reigns defeated CM Punk to become the new world heavyweight champion. Punk has not appeared on WWE television since the night after WrestleMania.

Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com noted that although he is reportedly moving to the SmackDown brand, Punk strongly pushed for his return to instead take place on the July 6th edition of WWE RAW in Chicago. Meltzer stated the following about Punk’s status…

“His [Punk’s] departure was basically to get him ready for moving to Smackdown and eventually a program with [Cody] Rhodes, but to say there are no issues at all, that wouldn’t be correct. It’s not as bad as some have made it out to be, but it’s not like there aren’t any issues at all.”

Earlier this month, numerous unverified Punk rumors have surfaced on social media, all alleging some form of tension between him and WWE and/or claiming that he has requested his release from the company. Those claims were debunked.
