Taz on why he changed his ring gear in WWE: “I did not want my in ring persona tarnished anymore”

Taz has long been associated with the color orange, which became a signature part of his presentation during his ECW run thanks to his orange-and-black singlet and branding. However, when he joined WWE, Taz moved away from that look, opting instead for a black shirt and black pants with orange accents.

When asked on Twitter/X about why he made the change, Taz stated the following…

“It was my idea. I’ve said this on my podcast years ago… I did not want my in ring persona tarnished anymore than they tarnished me. Therefore, I wanted to change my complete look before I retired from the ring. I didn’t want them to have that ECW TAZ look on their programming anymore.”

Taz did praise WWE in a follow-up post by writing, “They gave me a completely second career and they trained me properly for that career which I am forever grateful for.”
