Gunther’s creative direction for WrestleMania 42 determined during the March 30th 2026 edition of RAW

As seen during the March 30th 2026 edition of WWE RAW at Madison Square Garden, it was announced that Seth Rollins has been medically cleared. Rollins attacked Paul Heyman with a steel chair and was going to deliver a curb stomp, but he was attacked by Gunther. Gunther, who was absent from WWE television for several weeks, applied a sleeper hold to Rollins and then pointed to the WrestleMania 42 sign.

In a follow-up backstage segment, Pearce officially confirmed the match for WrestleMania.
