Sami Zayn wins the United States title from Carmelo Hayes on WWE SmackDown

As seen during the March 27th 2026 edition of WWE SmackDown, Carmelo Hayes defended the United States title against Sami Zayn.

At the end of a competitive match, Trick Williams grabbed the title and threw it into the ring. While the referee was getting rid of the title, Trick swung at Zayn from the apron but hit Carmelo by mistake. Zayn hit the Helluva Kick on Carmelo to win the title.

Backstage, SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis confirmed that Zayn will defend the title against Trick Williams at WrestleMania 42.
