Sgt. Slaughter on The Iron Sheik: “I was the only wrestler at his funeral, which I thought was pretty horrendous”

During an interview with Going Ringside, WWE Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter stated the following while talking about his rival The Iron Sheik…

“He was one of those guys that, no matter how many times you knocked him down, he got back up looking you right in the eye. He passed in 2023, and I was the only wrestler at his funeral, which I thought was pretty horrendous — that I was the only wrestler to go to his funeral.

He lived in Atlanta, where all the wrestlers live. So I thought that was kind of a slap in the face – [he had done] so much for not only wrestlers, but for the professional wrestling business.”
