Gunther vs. AJ Styles took place at WWE Royal Rumble 2026. Here are the highlights…

Styles outwrestled Gunther in the opening moments, and Gunther had to regroup. He was eventually able to slow down the pace. After Styles’ forearm was busted open, Gunther delivered a big back body drop and applied a Boston Crab. Styles fought back and went for a Styles Clash, but Gunther countered and delivered a lariat.

Gunther hit Styles with a powerbomb, but Styles was able to kick out. Styles applied a calf crusher, but Gunther countered into a sleeper. Styles managed to send Gunther to the outside and delivered a phenomenal forearm over the top rope. After both men returned to the ring, Styles countered Gunther’s powerbomb attempt with a powerbomb of his own, but Gunther kicked out.

Styles built up momentum with a springboard 450, followed by a Styles Clash, but Gunther kicked out again. Styles applied a sleeper, but Gunther delivered a low blow while the referee wasn’t looking. Gunther hit another powerbomb, but Styles still kicked out.

Gunther regained the advantage and chopped Styles repeatedly. After the referee checked on Styles, he managed to fight back against Gunther. However, Gunther countered Styles with another sleeper. Styles kept trying to fight but couldn’t reach the ropes. When Styles’ arm fell, the referee stopped the match.

After the match, Styles received a standing ovation from the fans. He teased taking off his gloves but performed his taunt with them still on. Styles left the ring but returned and raised his hands as his music played.
