The reason why WWE decided against Aleister Black vs. Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41

During an interview with WrestleRant, Aleister Black discussed his return to WWE on the SmackDown after WrestleMania 41. Black revealed why he didn’t return at WrestleMania…

“They were toying with a bunch of ideas. I know at one point there was this conversation about like, ‘Oh, maybe he’s coming back to wrestle Randy Orton at Mania’ and that was an actual thing that was discussed. But you also have to understand that that wasn’t an isolated thing as to like, ‘Oh, maybe it could be this,’ and then obviously all the focus went on that. They’ll check a list of names and they’ll be like, ‘Oh, maybe it’s this person. Oh, maybe it’s this person. Hey, maybe why don’t we get so-and-so?’

It was counter-argued quickly because they were like, ‘Well, we don’t want him to lose coming back at WrestleMania. That doesn’t make any sense.’ That was just on one end like, ‘Oh, maybe we can do that. You know what? No, because you know, so-and-so.’ And at that point, they had kind of already made the decision to bring me back. They had decided on it. Then the Randy Orton thing came up. Then they were very quick to go like, ‘No, let’s keep it there.’ They felt that they wanted to give it the right attention, and they wanted it to be, like, you know, specifically about me, which I’m very grateful for. What happened happened, and I really enjoyed it. It was a great night. It’s the same night that my wife obviously won her first singles title.”
