WWE star Rusev addresses the rumors that he refused to lose matches while working for AEW
During an interview with SHAK Wrestling, WWE star Rusev addressed the rumors that he refused to lose matches while working for AEW. Here is the excerpt…
SHAK Wrestling: “I did see a statistic pop up today that kind of ties into what we’re talking about, and it’s that allegedly you’ve lost more matches in this WWE run than you’ve had matches in the five years that you were with AEW. Now, there are so many ways you can splice that, but I did want to give you the chance to address, if you care to, the sort of rumors that part of the inactivity was your unwillingness to lose to guys when you were at the other company. You don’t have to, but if you’d like this moment to address anything, it’s yours.”
Rusev: “There are a lot of rumors out there. Those rumors are spread by one person, you know, by these so-called dirt sheets, and they have no evidence, no proof, right? They just go out there, run a story, and nothing can be traced back to them. ‘Oh, I heard, I saw…’ So, it’s just—clearly, if you judge this by this run, it obviously doesn’t make any sense. Clearly, when I lost to Sammy Guevara for the title, that didn’t make any sense. When I lost to Daniel Bryan right after that, that didn’t make any sense. When I lost to whoever—like, so let the people go back and review whatever I’ve done, and we can talk about that. But also, you know, losing now—it’s just part of the business, man. Not everybody wins every week.”
F4WOnline.com’s Dave Meltzer responded to Rusev’s comments by writing on Twitter/X, “I remember when I wrote he had a knee injury, he said I was lying, then started wrestling with a giant knee brace on.”
