News regarding AJ Styles’ contract with WWE amid renewed retirement speculation
As seen during the September 1st 2025 edition of WWE RAW, AJ Styles was unsuccessful in his attempt to win the Intercontinental title from Dominik Mysterio. According to PWInsider.com, the feud between AJ and Dominik isn’t over and it was noted that their rivalry could carry on to the upcoming AAA Worlds Collide event.
However, there is renewed speculation about when AJ will be retiring from wrestling. On Friday, AJ posted an image of an hourglass with falling sand forming his signature “P1” logo.
According to Fightful.com, sources close to AJ had indicated that his contract extension with WWE is up around February of 2026 between the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 42. It was noted that WWE plans to revisit AJ’s status and interest as that date approaches.
