ASK TITO: Chelsea Green Online Heat over Hulk Hogan, Travis Scott, Roman Reigns, and Much More

The Excellence in Column Writing is back again with yet another edition of Ask Tito where I answer your questions provided to me via email and social media private messaging with longtime readers and also the lovely comments posted below my columns with snappy answers. I usually prefer current event questions, so if you have a question, ask away.

BUT, I HAVE A QUESTION FOR ONLINE WRESTLING FANS: WHAT THE F*CK?!?

How dare you attack Chelsea Green, you VILE pieces of garbage!!!!! She was expressing her thoughtful opinion on a pioneer that helped build the WWE into a powerhouse that she’s able to work for and earn a fantastic living. YET, you cannot let her provide a compliment because your social justice warrior thinking arse has to pass judgment on EVERYONE and EVERYTHING.

Well, here’s some judgement for you: YOU SUCK!

In case you missed it, Chelsea Green appeared on ClutchPoints and said the following about the passing of Hulk Hogan:

”We all saw Hulk on the Netflix premiere of Raw, which wasn’t that long ago. So, obviously, it’s hitting close to home for a lot of us. And of course, Hulk Hogan inspired all of wrestling. It would be crazy to say otherwise.”

After acknowledging his political views, she stated ”those views aside, he was an absolute icon, and he paved the way for a lot of us in wrestling and in Hollywood”. She further elaborated on the Hollywood stuff by saying ”I said earlier today Hulk Hogan walked so that The Rock and John Cena could run in Hollywood. He really has made a lasting impression that nobody can take from him.”

Seemed like a professional to me.

She also wrote the tweet (which she deleted, thanks to the online attacks, and later wrote an apology): “Political views aside, Hulk Hogan’s influence on the wrestling world was clearly undeniable. He inspired millions and shaped an entire generation of fans, my husband included. We are mourning the loss of an icon… a legend. My love goes out to his family”

Oh, but what did the overly judgmental MORALITY SQUAD (yes, that’s a GWAR reference) have to say about her comments on the Hulkster?

DEATH THREATS.

And accusing her of supporting whatever Hogan said in the past, his mistakes, or the politics he supported.

Now, she’s fed up and is going offline which denies valid connections she wants to have with her real fans.

First of all, ANYONE judging Chelsea Green needs to LOOK IN THE MIRROR. Then, they need to JUDGE their own thoughts or actions. Within everyone’s family or social circle, too, there’s that one person who seems to get in trouble or has had trouble with the law. Every family has one, nobody’s perfect and there are times you just can’t avoid a bad character.

Furthermore, aside from obtaining illegal performance enhancing drugs, which was alleged to be occurring thanks to the WWE (but Vince was acquitted in 1994), Hulk Hogan has never been placed in jail or did anything illegal. Yes, he cheated on his wife, used racial slurs, and said TERRIBLE things about his son Nick’s friend’s family… Hogan also stretches the truth when telling stories… HOWEVER, what I’ve just described does not break any laws. It’s just terrible decision making or judgment on the Hulkster’s part. By the way, sending DEATH THREATS to a person online IS illegal and you can be punished by law.

The racial slurs personally bother me, as Hogan was caught on the Bubba the Love Sponge sex tape with his wife afterward complaining about his daughter Brooke Hogan dating black guys. The sex tape was “stolen” and later published by Gawker which Hulk Hogan later sued to get a metric ton of money.

But aside from getting a ton of money from Gawker, those racial slurs ruined Hogan. WWE terminated him and erased him from their existence for 3 years. While WWE has brought him back, it’s on a very limited basis and other financial opportunities have dried up. To this day, Hogan has major mistrust with many people for being caught on tape and blurting out racial slurs.

He has paid the price… Sure, the Gawker settlement paid him well, but that pile of money doesn’t erase a bad reputation or how he was booed at every event. Remember that very first Netflix RAW? Those Los Angeles fans tore him up…

And of course, politics… Because our country has decided that you MUST CHOOSE A TEAM, anyone on the opposite team is now your enemy. That’s not how things were like during the 20th century where politics didn’t control your lives and you got over it if someone had different political views. Hell, you’d have to burn piles of your music or movies based on political themes built into both.

Just like you, Hulk Hogan has FREEDOM OF SPEECH to express his own political opinions, just as you have the right to have yours. Refusing to praise anyone from the opposite political spectrum alienates half of the country. Oh, and by the day, death threats are NOT what free speech is for and threatening behavior is and should be punished.

Hulk Hogan rejoined the WWE during 1983 and combined with Vince McMahon’s ideas, Hogan helped grow the WWE into the national powerhouse that you see today. Hell, Hogan made WCW better which forced the WWE to greatly improve during the 1990s as well. Chelsea Green works for the WWE company that Hulk Hogan helped make into the entertainment force that you see today.

So why is she not allowed to praise him for his PAST work?

Tell me with a straight face that she endorses any bad things that Hogan has ever said?

Of course not…

It’s like hearing Rock or John Cena talk about Vince McMahon right now. Both guys love the guy because his WWE system made them into big stars and created opportunities for both of them to make a ton of money and seek other big opportunities. THAT IS WHAT CHELSEA IS SAYING ABOUT HOGAN! Do you see Rock or Cena praising Vince McMahon’s sexual allegations? NO!!!!! They praised the man that they knew and appreciated that, but in no means are endorsing what Vince McMahon has become.

Just as Chelsea was praising Hulk Hogan for his WRESTLING CONTRIBUTIONS and not any of his transgressions. Which by the way, as I’ve stated again, Hulk Hogan never did anything illegal. At least with Rock/Cena praising Vince McMahon, you could argue they deserve more heat because Vince McMahon has done some very shady things, has been indicted, and has real issues involving women.

The NERVE of these online wrestling fans who act like they are the MORALITY SQUAD, thinking that you are ARMED WITH THE WRATH OF GOD (I’m telling you, GWAR is awesome!).

You’re nothing… How dare you attack Chelsea Green who is a damn great person and works hard to entertain YOU. Oh, you want to associate her with Hulk Hogan’s past racism? Gee, can you tell me the person who SPOKE OUT about Tessa Blanchard’s backstage transgressions? That was Chelsea, at a time when Tessa was trying to act almighty about women watching out for each other in the business.

Folks, now you see the CRAP that I’ve been dealing with for almost 27 years now… Anytime you post an opinion, the MORALITY SQUAD is there to judge with their personal attacks. Instead of professionally disagreeing, they throw death threats and other vile attacks. I once wrote a column to express an opinion of how female wrestlers wore too much eyelid make-up. I was attacked by everyone for that, including other websites and even a female wrestler then in TNA and now in WWE. Anytime I questioned by the Insane Clown Posse was wrestling in matches for WWE or WCW, their fanbase would threaten me. During the mid 2000s, I once questioned why wrestlers like Rey Mysterio were getting too many tattoos and maybe having bad placement of them, and you thought that I offended the world.

Lately, I just merely mention AEW and I’m suddenly anti-AEW or pro-WWE. Then when I’m critical of WWE, I’m pro-AEW all of a sudden. Pro wrestling has literally morphed into the same political model as Republicans and Democrats. Pick a side and then hate the other side. Wait, what? During the late 1990s, we watched BOTH WWE and WCW and were grateful to have so much great wrestling content!

If you threw ANY shade at Chelsea Green for the past few days, you should man-up and APOLOGIZE to her. You were wrong, she was perfectly fine to praise a past wrestling legend for his WRESTLING CONTRIBUTIONS while clearly not praising his transgressions.

Many of you may be feeling stressed right now, maybe frustrated by how the economy is treating you… Maybe just lifting that burden of being JUDGMENTAL could help your stress levels but also how you are perceived at work. TRUST ME and I speak from experience here, upper management HATES when an employee thinks they are better than the rest of the team. They will promote the humble employee who happens to be talented versus the talented employee who is boasting about their greatness. Every. Single. Time. And boy, do they really hate it when an employee dares to defy a member of management. Just as wrestling promoters would blackball a wrestler who caused trouble, upper management does that at the workplace for cocky employees.

People like Chelsea Green are NOT your punching bag for what may be bothering you personally. Furthermore, stop judging every person or trying to nitpick at every single thing said. Nobody is perfect and there are over 1 million words in the English dictionary. To say things perfectly the way you want them is impossible, especially when you’re looking for a fight.

So F you, you judgmental bastards thinking Chelsea did anything wrong. YOU, the online fans, are wrong for sending death threats and your ignorant judgment her way.

By the way, here’s my thoughts on Hulk Hogan’s passing in case you missed it on Friday 7/24. Oddly enough, I must have written a perfect column in tribute to Hogan, as I was expecting similar heat to Chelsea but received praise. I did directly acknowledge he had transgressions, but so did Chelsea and fans attacked her anyway.

No apologies needed, Chelsea. These Neanderthals should be apologizing to you.

Anyway, my blood pressure is through the roof, onto your questions!

ASK TITO: Your Questions, My Answers

Where does Hulk Hogan rank on your all-time great list?

Easy, he’s #1. He struck it big two massive times, once with Vince Jr. during the 1980s as the top star and then as heel Hollywood Hogan as the surprise third man of the NWO. Then, I’d argue his work in the WWWF and AWA before his big WWE run was good, along with his 2000s WWE run being decent as well. Wrestlemania 18 is freakin’ legendary…

For all-time great wrestlers of the Wrestlemania era, here is my list:

1) Hulk Hogan
2) Steve Austin
3) The Rock
4) John Cena
5) The Undertaker
6) Brock Lesnar
7) Ric Flair
8) Andre the Giant
9) Macho Man Randy Savage
10) Roman Reigns

And probably Bret Hart, HBK, Triple H, and Sting right behind that 10th position.

Have you seen Happy Gilmore 2 yet and what are your thoughts on MJF and Becky Lynch’s performances?

I just watched it this evening… I thought they did fine. Both were parts of particular groups that acted similarly together and really didn’t give them a chance to standout.

For the movie itself, I’m feeling some Caddyshack 2 vibes to it… Like significant and similar vibes. It was entertaining, as Caddyshack 2 can be in parts, but not as great as the original film by a long stretch.

Without getting into spoilers, you’ll know what I mean when you see Happy 2 and then suddenly realize you’re watching Caddyshack 2.

Do you think AEW should receive any heat for not doing a full blown tribute to Hulk Hogan?

Hogan never wrestled for AEW, never appeared there either. I don’t mind AEW being quiet so that wrestling fans can go to WWE directly if they want all of the Hogan tributes that they desire.

I’m old enough to remember, and I was a columnist at the time, for when WCW acknowledged Owen Hart’s death repeatedly on their show and took a ton of heat for it.

Again, online wrestling fans, you’re nitpicking and judging too much. You don’t know the context of these actions or inactions. I’m guessing that AEW is staying silent, on purpose, to let you focus in on where Hogan mostly wrestled and that was WWE.

Geesh.

Any early thoughts on WWE 2K25 for the Nintendo Switch?

I’ve played through multiple match-ups, tried a few modes… Listen, I have to hand it to anyone who masters the 2K control set-up. I’m terrible at these games, as all of these combos of using the shoulder buttons at specific times with the regular move buttons makes me long for the simplicity of the Nintendo 64 AKI games. Clearly, someone who is younger and quicker with a controller could do well with this game and other 2K Sports games.

The game plays well, though I’d argue that it moves SLOWLY through menus. Once in the ring, the action is smooth as silk and plays as well as WWE 2K22 which I have on my Playstation 5.

I just need to find time to play it more extensively to formulate a better opinion, but damn these other Switch games begging or my attention. Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bonanza, Fortnite, Rocket League, and Tetris 99 are difficult games to put down for me.

If you like wrestling games and want to play one on the Nintendo Switch 2, WWE 2K25 is clearly the best out there on a very weak selection of wrestling games.

Do you really think Roman Reigns has peaked? Have you heard the crowds since his return?

Of course… Go away for 3 months and you’ll appear fresh.

Look, I didn’t write my recent column on Roman Reigns to badmouth him or any of his loyal fans. I pointed out, with facts, that his unavailability through taking months off and the WWE surrounding him changing made the WWE less dependable on him. WWE still draws strong houses without him because they’ve built roster depth at the top since his possible peak year of 2023.

For years, I’ve discussed how I believe in the concept of LESS IS MORE… In my opinion, top WWE wrestlers DO NOT have to work every week. That said, Roman wrestles so little each year that it hurts his drawing power. For 2025, he only worked the first Netflix RAW, the Royal Rumble, and Wrestlemania 41. That’s it, and that was barely under 4 months’ of work.

If you look at 2024, Roman wrestled 6 times and two of which were on back-to-back nights at Wrestlemania 40.

For 2023, he wrestled 11 times and we thought that was THIN back then. Roman wrestled 89 times during 2022.

I think history will show that the Bloodline peaked through Wrestlemania 39 and ran on fumes until the Rock stumbled into joining them during 2024. Then with Roman, him lacking that put over match by the Rock has really harmed his career. He doesn’t feel special without that massive trademark win, especially with the Rock solidifying him as a babyface.

What do you think of Travis Scott and WWE breaking ties?

What a joke… So the guy who stiffed Cody at Elimination Chamber and then cost Cody the title at Wrestlemania 41 is allowed to just walk without any storyline arc being completed?

And here come the Rock conspiracies… “Triple H has always hated the Rock and is trying to stick it to him by firing Scott!”

I think it should be a lesson learned, as WWE needs to keep celebrities OUT of the ring because they are not trained how to work, how to sell, and how to land work punches.

I’ll be happy to just never hear the “Fein” song ever at a wrestling event again. Thank you lord!
