Slammiversary 2025 is over – What’s next for TNA Wrestling’s two main titles?
I didn’t watch TNA Slammiversary—not because I didn’t want to, but because I had a prior commitment and couldn’t make time to watch it. But from what I’ve heard, it was a good show, and I’ve got to give them props for pulling in the biggest North American gate in the company’s history.
While a lot of that probably had to do with AJ Styles’ return, it’s still a great achievement for the company. You can see what a smart business move it was for TNA to form a partnership with WWE.
But while this was great news for TNA—getting their product exposed to a bigger audience, likely pulling in a strong PPV buyrate, and maybe even gaining a few new subscriptions to their streaming platform—all fans seem to be talking about is the fact that both the TNA World Championship and Knockouts Championship are now in the possession of NXT. A lot of fans on social media are being negative about this move, pushing the narrative that it’s just more proof WWE wants to buy out TNA.
To those fans, I say: chill out already. This proves absolutely nothing and just shows how gullible the IWC can be. This is part of a larger storyline that will play out over the summer, culminating at Bound for Glory, where TNA will regain both the Knockouts and TNA Championships—and maybe even turn the tables on NXT by winning one of their titles, if not more.
For now, this sets up a fun few months of wrestling for fans, as we get to watch a long-term storyline unfold across both Tuesdays and Thursdays. This will help both companies maintain the momentum they’ve gained coming out of this event. Also, by building toward a resolution at TNA’s version of WrestleMania, whoever ends up beating Trick and Jacy will come out of this looking like a bigger star—and in the end, that’s exactly what you want if you’re TNA.
So yeah, right now it might seem like WWE is completely taking over TNA, but fans—especially those in the IWC—really need to learn patience and just enjoy the ride both companies are taking us on, instead of constantly complaining on social media just because they didn’t like that NXT is getting the upper hand… for now.
