Former WCW star calls Bash at the Beach 2000 incident “embarrassing” and Vince Russo issues response
July 9th 2025 was the 25-year anniversary of the infamous WCW Bash at the Beach “worked shoot” incident involving Hulk Hogan and writer Vince Russo. In a WCW world title match, Jeff Jarrett “laid down” for Hogan and later in the show, Russo claimed that Hogan played his “creative control card.” Hogan was never seen in WCW again.
Former WCW star Shane “Hurriance” Helms, now a WWE producer, wrote on Twitter/X that the segment was “embarrassing” and Russo issued a response. Here was the exchange…
Russo: “Embarrassing? For starters—-it was a WORK that Hulk was in on. For finishers—have you watched the product of the company you work for lately?”
Helms: “Being a work or a shoot isn’t the point. Either way it sucked ass. It sucked then and still sucks in retrospect. And yeah I watch my company, along with huge crowds that are having a great time. Have a good day.”
Russo: “Was that your ‘Mike Drop’? Man, I hope I recover from that. Don’t know if I can though.”
Helms: “If it hurt you that bad, then I hope you recover as well … cuz WCW sure didn’t. 🤷🏻♂️”
