Backstage news items from the 2024 AEW Full Gear PPV event
Here are several backstage news items from the 2024 AEW Full Gear PPV event via Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com…
* Ricky Starks, who appeared at a Game Changer Wrestling event earlier in the day, was backstage at the show. Johnson noted that it was the first time Starks has been seen at an AEW event in recent months and he was “warmly greeted” by those backstage. There is no word regarding when Starks will return to AEW programming.
* The belief is that there were no major injuries coming out of the show.
* There was said to have been “a lot” of internal praise for Mercedes Mone vs. Kris Statlander.
* According to Johnson, the end of Full Gear “was designed to showcase how many challengers are chasing the AEW title between Hangman Page, Christian Cage, Darby Allin and Jay White.” Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com stated that Darby crashing into the Death Riders’ truck was done by Darby himself and not a stuntman.
* AEW drew just over 10,000 fans to the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.
