Update on Malakai Black’s status with AEW following clean loss against Adam Cole on Dynamite
As seen during the November 6th 2024 edition of AEW Dynamite, Adam Cole picked up a clean victory over Malakai Black. Furthermore, Cole kicked out of Black’s The End (Black Mass) finishing move. After the match, Cole put over Black as one of the best wrestlers he has ever been in the ring with. Black then stood on the stage and acknowledged the fans before taking his leave.
According to Fightful.com, the word going around AEW in recent months is that they believe Black’s contract could be ending towards the end of 2024 or early 2025 if options aren’t exercised on AEW’s behalf. When AEW President Tony Khan noted in 2022 that Black was signed for “almost” five years, the deal reportedly included optional years.
In 2022, Black asked for his AEW release but it was not granted. There continue to be rumors of Black returning to WWE when he is contractually able to do so.
If last night's Dynamite was farewell for Malakai Black, he lost his only 3rd singles match in AEW:

• Adam Copeland in 2024
• Adam Cole in 2024Nobody usually kicks out of The End/Black Mass and Cole did. So Black put him over huge on the way out. pic.twitter.com/NThwf1bChB
