Thoughts on the Aleister Black, Shotzi Blackheart, and Tegan Nox surprise appearances
Tommy End, the former Aleister Black, debuted in AEW this past week. And an impactful one it was! His first act in AEW was to deliver a Black Mass to both Cody Rhodes and Arn Anderson! Clearly we’re headed towards Cody vs Black, probably at All Out. Impact star Chris Bey took to Twitter to share his thoughts about the big debut. He tweeted “Malakai Black? Damn I aint ever gonna get my match. Great for him, though”. Of course, if they continue with this AEW/Impact joint relationship, that match might happen. Although it seems that the two brands “working together” is really just The Good Brothers interfering in Kenny’s AEW matches and Kenny appearing on Impact. At least he’s defending all the titles he has. Back to Black(nod to the late Amy Winehouse), I would at least build him up before he loses to Cody. Because after you lose to Cody….well, how’s Anthony Ogogo’s career going?
Chris Jericho will get his rematch with MJF but Chris has to go through the same thing Mox had to go through back before he could get his title match with Chris. So, does this trial start next week? Clearly we’re getting Jericho vs MJF at All Out. How they get there will be interesting, though.
Bayley will be out approximately 9 months after suffering an injury while training. I hate to hear of any injury and certainly wish Bayley well in recovery. That left the question of who would challenge Bianca next Sunday? Well, it turns out it won’t be next Sunday. It’ll be next Friday on Smackdown. At least that’s what Sonya said last night. Carmella has been taken out of the women’s Money In The Bank ladder match and put in the championship match against Bianca. That left a spot open that would be filled by Liv Morgan. Now all us fans are pulling for Liv. So, how much you bet that Sonya screws Liv out of the win and we get Liv vs a returning Sonya at SummerSlam? Let’s hold the predictions until next weekend, though.
Shotzi Blackheart and Tegan Nox debuted on Smackdown as the team “Shotzi and Nox”. It’s puzzling to me because Tegan just returned to NXT this past Tuesday to screw over Candace LeRae and Indi Hartwell. Will Nox pull double duty or was Tuesday her NXT swan song? Sidebar: they did beat the women’s tag champs in a non-title match. It’s not like they were brought up to be jobbers.
Staying with Smackdown, Edge has started using this move of what is basically a crossface but he uses part of a chair, putting it in an opponent’s mouth. Edge put the move on Roman last week and both Uso’s last night. Roman didn’t seem to care about it being put on the Uso’s, though. He just walked off. Funny how the announcers say this trio is “stronger than ever” one minute and we see this the next.
This next week in wrestling as we head towards Money In The Bank should be a good one. It should be extra good because live crowds return!! Also, we get Johnny Gargano vs Karrion Kross for the NXT Championship Tuesday! I expect Kross to retain in a good one! Let’s all enjoy some wrestling, shall we?
