Backstage details regarding Zelina Vega’s return to WWE

As previously noted, Zelina Vega made her return to WWE on the July 2nd 2021 edition of Friday Night Smackdown.

In a Q&A on PWInsider.com, Mike Johnson talked about the circumstances surrounding Vega’s departure and her being brought back to the company…

“We are told that even after Vega was released, there were segments of the company who felt she should have been retained and not released. We are told those segments of the company pushed for conversations between the two sides to continue.”

Johnson added that the company reportedly apologized to Vega and made her an offer to bring her back. It’s believed that the two sides compromised and there was “an understanding on the other sides’ perspective.”

While news of Vega returning was first reported in May, Johnson wrote how another source told him it happened “much sooner” than that.
