Triple H, Nick Aldis, and Adam Pearce address Wrestlemania 40 during the 2/9/24 edition of Smackdown

The WWE Wrestlemania 40 Kickoff press conference took place on Thursday night in Las Vegas, NV at the T-Mobile arena. Cody Rhodes chose Roman Reigns as his opponent for Wrestlemania but the event ended without a match being confirmed for world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins.

During the February 9th 2024 edition of Smackdown, Paul “Triple H” Levesque along with general managers Nick Aldis and Adam Pearce addressed the situation. Triple H spoke first and said some people “don’t know their role.” Triple H noted that he is the one that calls the shots and confirmed that Reigns vs. Cody will happen at Wrestlemania. Triple H closed by saying “it doesn’t matter” if some people don’t like his decision.

Aldis and Pearce then revealed that the winner of the 2024 men’s Elimination Chamber match will challenge Rollins at Wrestlemania. The following names were scheduled to participate in qualifying matches…

In matches on Smackdown, McIntyre defeated Styles and then Orton defeated Zayn to qualify.
