News regarding WWE creative plans being changed due to CM Punk’s injury at the Royal Rumble

As previously noted, CM Punk’s torn triceps injury at the 2024 WWE Royal Rumble PLE was among several circumstances to cause a “sharp turn” in WWE’s creative plans for Wrestlemania 40.

According to Fightful Select, Punk being injured did not lead to an audible being called in the men’s Royal Rumble match as Cody Rhodes was already scheduled to win. Howevrer, Fightful did note that plans for RAW were changed due to Punk getting hurt…

“The creative on WWE RAW adjusted from what was planned as of Saturday night at the WWE Royal Rumble. We’re told that is directly tied to CM Punk’s injury, and that the Seth Rollins/Cody segment was added as a result of Punk’s injury.”

WWE published a video of Punk telling Cody backstage at RAW to finish the story.
