News regarding Ronda Rousey’s status with WWE following her loss to Shayna Baszler
As seen during the 2023 WWE Summerslam PLE, Ronda Rousey was defeated by Shayna Baszler in an MMA rules match. According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, the match was Rousey’s farewell “at least for now” and she’s not expected back at any specific date.
Meltzer went into further details during Wrestling Observer Radio…
“It may be the end, period. So the whole deal was that Ronda, you know this looked to be, ‘it’s my last match and Shayna is the one who got me into this so if I have to go out then I’m losing by submission.’ Because nobody was allowed to beat Ronda by submission, that was the key. So, she did it, with her best friend, and I mean, in theory it’s great for Shayna if they follow up on it, so we’ll see.” (quote courtesy of Sportskeeda.com)
I attended Summerslam at Ford Field and I felt that Rousey vs. Baszler was not well-received by fans. I noticed a lot of people heading to the bathroom when the match started and there were multiple “boring” chants.
