Speculation about why WWE didn’t book Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus for Summerslam

As previously noted, the Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus rematch will take place on the August 14th 2023 RAW in Winnipeg, Canada instead of at Summerslam.

According to Fightful.com, plans for the match changed over the weekend and the rematch had been discussed for the 2023 Payback PLE on September 2nd. Fightful added that there is nothing to internet rumors that Becky was going to be taking time off around Summerslam.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer commented on the match not being booked for Summerslam. Meltzer speculated about why the match isn’t part of the card…

“That match [Becky vs. Trish] was scheduled months ago. So, I don’t know if they timed through what they wanted, and they had to make some changes, because that Slim Jim Battle Royal was added, and they’re making a lot of money from that one.
