Kenny Omega reportedly still hasn’t signed a new AEW contract despite rumors
During an interview with Nick Hausman of hausofwrestling.com, Konnan said the following about Kenny Omega not being booked for the upcoming AAA Triplemania Monterrey event…
“Originally we were going to bring in Omega but he was still negotiating with AEW and he wasn’t sure if he was going to stay or not. So, we couldn’t commit, and he didn’t want to come here until he signed. So, that was out the window, boom. I’m assuming [Omega has re-signed with AEW]. I never really asked him but there are plans for him in the future so I’m thinking he already signed. But, you know, he wasn’t sure if he was going to stay and WWE was talking to him. You know? So, we couldn’t get him to commit.”
Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com later said that nothing has changed regarding Omega’s AEW status…
“Konnan did an interview and it got people thinking that Kenny Omega had signed a new contract and Kenny Omega is under contract to AEW, his contract was extended because he was out for, I think, nine months due to injuries. So, I believe that he is under contract until around November or December and that’s the situation but there is no new deal that’s been signed.”
It’s believed that AEW is working on signing the Young Bucks and Omega to new long-term contracts well before they become free agents.
