Malakai Black sets the record straight about his AEW contractual status
In a video published to his Instagram account, Malakai Black addressed his contractual status with AEW and noted that he is still with the company…
“There is nothing less I want to do now than going live especially in a time when I’m supposed to take care of myself… Some people can’t seem to just shut the f*ck up and create things that are not there… If you can’t even get the years of my contract, how are people expecting that these guys know very intimate and private details of my business… My contract is not five years, my contract has never been five years. Again, this is all bullsh*t, it’s all lies.”
In July of 2022, AEW President Tony Khan stated that “Black has almost five years left on his deal” with AEW.

Black said that he had been receiving death threats and said he wanted no part of WWE vs. AEW tribalism. Black also said the following…
“I will see you guys in a couple of weeks, maybe a couple of months like I said. I’m only taking some time off. That’s it, just taking some time off. There’s no conspiracy to this… Don’t believe these people… I’m fine, everything is going to be fine. You’ll see me right back with AEW pretty soon.”
Malakai Black is tired of your tribalism bullshit, too.
