News regarding the botched fireball spot with Drew McIntyre from WWE Smackdown

As seen during the September 23rd 2022 edition of WWE Smackdown, Scarlett shot a fireball at Drew McIntyre but it didn’t come close to connecting with his face. Scarlett then hit McIntyre with a low blow and Karrion Kross applied the Cross Jacket submission to McIntyre.

According to Fightful Select, Kross was told to keep going after the botched fireball and the segment had to be improvised. Fightful noted the following: “We’re told that very clearly, the flash paper was not ready for live TV and didn’t work in a moment where it needed to catch enough of someone’s face to sell.” Furthermore, “the flash paper was actually brought with the team that took the company jet to Smackdown, and wasn’t picked up locally or brought with the prop team.”
