Charlotte Flair’s status with WWE said to be a ‘tricky situation’ and latest backstage news

As previously noted, Charlotte Flair was reportedly involved in a backstage confrontation with Becky Lynch after the October 22nd 2021 edition of Smackdown went off the air. Click here for the initial details of what happened during and after the “title swap” segment.

Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com wrote the following about Charlotte’s status with WWE…

“It was noted to us that ‘It’s a tricky situation, isn’t it? Does WWE just hand her over to AEW?’ They note if she is disciplined then they would seemingly also have to discipline others over their backstage behavior. ‘They have their hands full with this situation.'”

Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, who broke the story, had some additional information. Johnson noted that the backstage confrontation between Charlotte and Becky took place in the Gorilla position with both Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard being able to see it. Johnson wrote the following…

“Two different sources described Sonya Deville as ‘mad enough to want to fight Flair’ and at one point, also having an argument with Flair backstage at Smackdown.”

Johnson also mentioned that resentment towards Charlotte has been building in recent weeks and it was “just a matter of time” before something happened. Johnson wrote the following…

“The criticism on Flair has been that she’s been self-indulgent towards protecting herself and making sure that all attention is on her, but one source not close to Flair said, “‘Let’s be honest, that’s what stars do. They make sure their star power remains the same or greater.'”
