Wrestle Review: Inspirational Crowns
We got a better idea of the upcoming Crown Jewel card. Big E will defend the WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre. E will retain because we can’t have two world champs on the same show. Plus I’m thinking we get Drew vs Roman down the line. But we’ll talk about Crown Jewel next weekend.
The King of The Ring and Queens Crown tournaments have begun. Round one saw Sami Zayn defeat Rey Mysterio. Fin Balor beat Cesaro. Monday, Next week will see Balor vs Zayn in a battle of former NXT champions which should be fantastic! Kofi Kingston will face Jinder Mahal as well as Xavier Woods vs Ricochet. I’m really looking forward to seeing some good matches Monday! Friday in round two, we’ll see Sami Zan vs Finn Balor. Round two next Monday will see the winner of Kofi/Jinder vs the winner of Woods/Ricochet. Think of how awesome a potential Kofi vs Woods match would be!
Carmella defeated Liv Morgan on Friday in the first round of the Queen’s Crown tournament and, needless to say, fans were outraged. Zelina Vega defeated Toni Storm to secure a second round match with Carmella next Friday on FS1(due to baseball playoffs). The finals of both tournaments will take place at Crown Jewel.
Onto AEW: To the surprise of no one, Hangman Page was the Joker in the ladder match Wednesday. He won the match but, and I don’t know who else caught this, Jon Moxley lowkey teased a future feud with Page. Perhaps Jon turns heel and is Page’s first challenger after he wins the title from Omega at Full Gear. What a match that should be!
The TBS championship in the women’s division was announced this past Wednesday on Dynamite. So, will it only be defended on Dynamite, which moves to TBS in January? Maybe the TNT title will only be defended on Rampage, which stays on TNT. I’m just wondering. And who should be the first champion? I’m going to go with Serena Deeb. She just turned heel recently and. imagine the heel heat if a newly minted heel was the inaugural TBS Champion!
I leave you with this I learned last night. The Inspiration(formerly IIconics) have signed with Impact Wrestling. I expect them to debut at Bound For Glory, though they could debut sooner. They’ll certainly bring more eyes to Impact!
That’s all for this week. Make sure to check out my podcast, Blendertainment, anywhere you listen to your podcasts. And I’ll be right back here next weekend!
