While speaking to Richard Deitsch of Sports Business Journal, former WWE world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins commented on potentially having a role as an NFL analyst after his wrestling career is over. Here is what Rollins had to say…

“Right now, I’ve got three years left on my WWE contract — I’ll be 43 when that’s up. I want to be with WWE as long as I can continue to contribute and feel I’m helping the product, as opposed to taking up space that could be better utilized for younger talent.

When it comes to the sports media side of it, what I will not do is say I’m stopping wrestling and now I’m doing sports media. I want to continue at this game in WWE while also continuing to field offers [in sports media] and see where that goes. Once we get closer to the next contract with WWE, it’ll be like, ‘OK, what does this look like? Is there any interest from an ESPN for a bigger role or something that’s more substantial, something that can provide for me after pro wrestling?’

Right now, I’m very happy where I’m at and that I get to do both.”

During his podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash criticized the state of professional wrestling in 2026. Nash specifically criticized the Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins match from WWE SummerSlam…

“I think the problem was that the business became more and more high-spot focused and less and less about psychology. It’s like, 12 minutes of high spots, and that’s it for me. I’m done.

I think that match Roman and Seth had when the ref went down and they f*cking basically no-sold each other’s f*cking finishes for five minutes—I don’t think I’ve come back. Like I haven’t come back to wrestling.

You can’t drop a nuclear bomb on the Hulk and then tell me two issues later that the Leader is going to be able to take control of his mind. Like, you know what I mean? You can’t—you take me too far one way, and I’m gone.

There’s too many other things in life that I can do that I don’t know about. You know, like history. I could grab a textbook on the French Revolution and read it and learn 20 f*cking things that I don’t know about instead of watching f*cking two guys not sell each other’s finishes.”

Seth Rollins addresses his absence from WWE television since SummerSlam 2026

Seth Rollins has been kept off WWE television since losing to Roman Reigns at SummerSlam 2026, although he returned to in-ring action during WWE’s South American tour earlier this month.

While speaking to ESPN Chicago, Rollins was asked if he could provide an update on his status with WWE. Here was Rollins’ response…

“Uh, no. I wish I could, honestly. I’ve been off WWE television since SummerSlam. Had a title match with Roman Reigns in Minneapolis, lost that match, and I’m just taking my time right now, kind of focusing on other things.

At the end of the day, you know, I’ll come back when the time’s right. I was able to go down to South America a couple weeks ago and do some non-televised events for the South American and Mexican fans down there, really fantastic crowds. I mean, just unbelievable. Their passion for professional wrestling, what we do, is unparalleled, and they’re not—they’re not spoiled like the American crowds, you know? They don’t get shows very often.

I think the last time we were in some of those towns was, six, seven, eight years ago. So, I mean, it was—it’s very special to be down there, and those fans showed up and showed out. And so, I hope that that was a sign to the higher-ups that we need to get back down there and do it a little bit more.

But, as for me and Monday Night RAW, I don’t know.”

News regarding Seth Rollins’ status with WWE following his loss to Roman Reigns at SummerSlam

Seth Rollins has been kept off WWE television since losing to Roman Reigns at SummerSlam 2026, although he returned to in-ring action during WWE’s South American tour earlier this month.

WrestleVotes Radio noted that according to a source, Rollins is currently being kept off TV while creative waits for the right time to bring him back. Plans for his return are reportedly already in place, and he is expected to return to television in the near future.

It’s believed that Rollins was scheduled to be part of the Money in the Bank PLE at one point, but it appears that the creative direction may have changed.

As seen during the 2026 WWE SummerSlam Sunday PLE, Roman Reigns defeated Seth Rollins to retain the world heavyweight title. After the match, Reigns spoke with Jackie Redmond and here are the highlights…

Jackie: “You said you needed this win over Seth Rollins. You got it. What is this moment against this guy? What does it represent for you?”

Roman: “This is a complete, full circle. This is where we close the loop for it to happen here in Minnesota. This is where my football career ended at this moment here. God is a way better storyteller than all of us. This is a special moment for me.”

Jackie: “The moment with the chair felt like the turning point of this match. Can you tell us what was going through your mind in that moment?”

Roman: “Do what I tell my sons. Do what I tell my daughter. Learn from your mistakes. It’s time that we all grow up emotionally. You got to mature. You got to learn from your mistakes. You got to take these losses and make them lessons, and that is what I did tonight.”

Jackie: “It felt like you chose strategy over emotion in that moment. Before that final Spear, you said something to Seth. What was it?”

Roman: “It has always been me and you since FCW, since the Red Rooster was bitching at us. It’s always been the two of us. Even in The Shield, we already knew what it was. We knew Ambrose was a wild hare. We were going to change this place. We are the pioneers of this place. When people were scared and ran off, we held the fort down.”

Seth Rollins has been eliminated from the 2026 WWE King of the Ring tournament

As seen during the June 8th 2026 edition of WWE RAW, Seth Rollins vs. Je’Von Evans vs. Talla Tonga vs. Ricky Saints took place in a King of the Ring tournament match. After interference from The Vision, which included Bron Breakker taking out Rollins with a spear, Je’Von pinned Saints courtesy of an OG Cutter.

Last week, there was speculation about Rollins potentially winning the tournament.

In recent days, there has been speculation about Seth Rollins potentially winning the 2026 WWE King of the Ring tournament. While speaking to Prince St. Pizza, Rollins teased a potential match against world heavyweight champion Roman Reigns…

“WrestleMania this year was a bit tricky for me, man. I tore my rotator cuff back in October when I was holding that title. I lost it. I had to give the title up. I didn’t get beaten in a match for it. I had to forfeit it because I had to go get surgery on the rotator cuff. So I was out for five months. In the interim, CM Punk wins the title. Takes it into WrestleMania, and he’s wrestling in the main event. Mind you, my other rival, this fella named Roman Reigns. So you’ve got two of my worst enemies fighting each other for my title in my main event and I have to watch that.”

“So now Roman Reigns is walking around with my title. Talking about how he made the title relevant, which is bullsh*t. I’ll just say it. It’s complete bullsh*t. He knows it. I know it. Everybody else knows it. He sounds like an idiot when he says it.”

The 2026 WWE King of the Ring tournament winner is currently scheduled to receive a world title match at SummerSlam. During the Self Made Sessions, Ibou provided a potential spoiler for the event…

“Here’s the deal with the Seth Rollins situation. I asked about Seth and Roman Reigns SummerSlam match, and they told me this.

They said, ‘Look, Roman is going to work Oba Femi and Seth Rollins.’

And I was told one match is going to be at SummerSlam. The other one is going to be at WrestleMania, unless Dwayne Johnson decides to wrestle at Saudi. That’s what I was told.

So when I asked about how that works, that was days ago when I got told that, right? Which I already kind of had a feeling about.

And then today, I was just talking to somebody about the King of the Ring thing, and what they said to me was there’s a lot of moving parts. There’s a lot up in the air right now for SummerSlam, for whatever reason, and I’m not sure why.

What they told me was, right now, the plan is for Seth Rollins to win the tournament and face Roman Reigns.

So that’s what I was told. If that happens, that would mean that Oba Femi probably gets Brock Lesnar, I’m guessing, at SummerSlam. I would guess, to finish that off.”

Backstage news regarding WWE WrestleMania 42 plans for Seth Rollins being changed

As seen during the March 30th 2026 edition of WWE RAW at Madison Square Garden, Seth Rollins vs. Gunther was officially confirmed for WWE WrestleMania 42, despite rumors of Bron Breakker being in the building. Rollins vs. Breakker and Gunther vs. Rey Mysterio were reportedly planned for WrestleMania until Breakker and Rey suffered injuries.

The decision behind how the Rollins vs. Gunther match was booked reportedly sparked internal debate over the best direction for both performers. According to WrestleVotes Radio, some within the creative team pushed for Rollins to continue his Vision storyline instead of pivoting to a match with Gunther. Others were focused on ensuring Gunther had a spot on the WrestleMania card after his previously planned bout with Rey fell through.

Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com noted the following about plans for Rollins…

“The plan was for Rollins to face either Bronson Reed or Logan Paul, after Breakker was injured. At Elimination Chamber, with Rollins costing Paul the match, that appeared to be the direction. But we were told the Gunther was either right before or right after Chamber, a decision made when Reed went down with the torn biceps.”

Meltzer also stated that Breakker has been cleared for a couple of weeks but WWE decided to not “rush” him back into a storyline with Rollins for WrestleMania. Meltzer speculated that Breakker could end up costing Rollins the WrestleMania match with Gunther.

Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com noted the following regarding the situation…

“During last night’s show, we said we’d check on whether Gunther vs. Seth came about because Breakker wasn’t cleared in time. Actually, no—that was the updated plan regardless.”

A fan asked Meltzer, “So since Bron was injured, Gunther/Seth was always the plan B?” Meltzer responded, “No, there were multiple other ideas since that specific injury.”

During last night's show we said we'd check on whether Gunther vs. Seth came because Breakker wasn't cleared in time. Actually no, that was the updated plan regardless.
