While speaking to media after the 2026 AEW WrestleDream PPV, AEW President Tony Khan commented on Toni’s absence…

“We’ve been missing ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm, but everybody’s just been doing absolutely fantastic. Women’s wrestling in AEW has seen the locker room absolutely step up in the absence of the former world champion.

We have a great world champion now in Mercedes Mone, who’s had her first successful defense of the world championship tonight. The former world champion, ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm, is certainly on a lot of our minds. I can’t say when or where, but I know ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm will be back in AEW and looking to get payback for whoever it was that took her out.”

Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com noted that Toni, who is reportedly going to be out of action until 2027, did an autograph signing over the weekend and was not selling an injury at all. Meltzer stated the following…

“It is not an injury situation and it came up on 3/18 the day of the show as all plans until the afternoon were for Storm to beat Marina Shafir to lead to the start of a Thekla vs. Toni Storm program for the title. When they found out she could not wrestle, they laid out the injury angle and will be doing a tease akin to Who Shot JR? with clues and such and multiple potential assailants.”

“I was told outright before even asking about the subject that the two subjects Tony Khan will not talk about are Toni Storm and the story about his company putting in a bid to purchase WWE in 2023.”

In an update on Toni’s status, Fightful.com reported that “AEW expects Toni Storm not to be cleared to wrestle through 2026 at a minimum.” Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com went into more details…

“On the Toni Storm thing, it appears she’s not gonna be wrestling for a long, long time, and this was something that they found out on Wednesday. It was not an injury or anything like that. On Wednesday, she’s there. She is set up to wrestle in this match, and they had to do this emergency angle to take her out and put Mina Shirakawa in. They, on the day, on Wednesday, earliest Wednesday morning, certainly all day Tuesday, they were under the impression that she was going to be wrestling.” (quote courtesy of Cultaholic.com)

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com commented on the situation….

“All I know is this was a legitimate replacement, meaning something actually happened to Toni. She clearly seems to have got hurt because she wasn’t cleared for the show. But it wasn’t until the last minute. They advertised this all the way until today. It wasn’t until 10 minutes before the show that I guess they were waiting and waiting and hoping and then at the last second they were like, ‘Not going to happen.'” (quote courtesy of Cultaholic.com)

Alvarez later noted that Toni will be out of action for “a long time” due to an undisclosed injury or injuries.

Billboard: “If there were an open-door invasion and you could wrestle anyone from any promotion today, who would you choose and what kind of match would you want it to be?”

Becky: “Well, I’d probably wrestle Toni Storm. I always wanted to wrestle her. I was bummed when she left and she’s doing amazing work over there at [AEW]. It’s absolutely amazing. Let’s make it a Dublin Street Fight. I do love a good street fight or maybe a Hell in a Cell. Yeah, let’s make it a Hell in a Cell.”

“I think you might actually be surprised. There have been a lot of ideas shot down. A lot of wild ideas that our President Tony Khan has been just horrified and disgusted by. He really has to work hard to keep it all together, God bless him. He leads a massive team. There are a lot of moving parts backstage at All Elite and Warner Brothers. There is a massive team made up of people I don’t even know or haven’t even met. But TK is definitely the leader and all. Nothing gets past him as much as I do try to push the limits.

There is a misconception as well that RJ City…I don’t know if you’ve heard of him. Probably not, but there is this misconception that he is the brain behind this whole thing. I must put the rumors to rest. He does absolutely nothing. I think they just keep him around so if something goes wrong, we have someone to blame. He is more of a fall guy. He may be an intern. I’m not sure if he works there. There is not as much creative freedom as you think. The amount of things I’ve wanted to do where Tony has been completely horrified. But yeah, I get away with what I can.”

“We’ve all had relationships like Mariah, haven’t we? That end in broken glass? Fistfights, bloody kisses? What can I say about Mariah? God, we’re just—she’s the single most evil, cold-hearted b*tch I’ve ever met in my life. I can honestly say that, and I’m glad that I’ve banished her. I really did compromise her to a permanent end. But I’m a big fan of that Blake Monroe.

[Do you keep tabs on what she’s doing?] I’ve seen a bit, but I don’t, like, study it religiously. It’s wonderful. Wonderful.”

“First of all, I love Toni Storm. I love her look, Marilyn. Super sweet when you see her at a meet and greet, very thankful. And yeah, I love her, but you never bury a company. You know, we all learn this saying that ‘maybe that’s not the place for me,’ but every company changes every year. You never know when you’re going to go back or when they’re going to demand Toni Storm to make a comeback to WWE.”

“You don’t want to bash any company. And I’ve learned that lesson. I’ve done that before and shame on me, but I think you get very like in your head going, ‘I need to say what I am feeling right now.’ But social media is not the platform to go if I’m angry at a moment. You know what? Let me think about it tomorrow if I feel the same way, you know because social media is so easy to go on a rampage and you’re going to go the next day, ‘I shouldn’t have said that’.” (quotes courtesy of WrestlingNews.co)

“Well, I’m not really sure how he’s actually perceived. I assume everyone adores him. He’s like the nicest f*cking guy ever with the best of intentions, and he just loves wrestling so much. And, uh, yeah—I just love the guy. I mean, he’s the best and he works so hard.

He’s obsessed with this sh*t. He’s so into it. If he just woke up tomorrow and was like, ‘I don’t like wrestling anymore’ it’s like – the end. No one loves it like he does.”
