]]> While appearing on Chris Jericho’s podcast, Luchasaurus provided details about his battle with pneumonia that put him out of action in AEW for several months…

“I ended up getting sick, and I got Pneumonia, right which took me into a situation where I was in bed with oxygen for a month.

It got to the point where I was about to go out the door for—we were in New York City for AEW Grand Slam. It was the last time we did that. And I was about to hop on the plane, and I had this cold that wouldn’t go away. And something inside of me was just like, ‘I can’t get on that plane. I feel weird.’

So I texted the doc, and he’s like, ‘Yeah, stay home.’ You know, and they covered for me at work creatively that week.

Then they gave me antibiotics, but it wasn’t getting better. And then all of a sudden, I just felt really bad one day, and we thought it was maybe a pulmonary embolism.

So then they’re like, ‘No, you actually have pneumonia, but it’s spread to both lungs.’ So like, ‘We can give you this medicine and just pray, you know—just hope.’

But then I realized—I started learning about actually how fragile your lungs are. And I’m like, ‘Oh my God, this was a lot.’ Basically, he [Brodie Lee] kind of started with something similar to what I had. I’m not sure on all the details, but I do know that he ended up having to go on the ventilator.

And that’s what you don’t want to have happen, because if you panic on the ventilator, you can blow everything out.

I never got to the ventilator, they just needed oxygen to get my oxygen back up. The antibiotics worked, and I was actually cleared within three months of it.”

]]> In October of 2024, it was reported that Killswitch aka Luchasaurus was hospitalized due to having pneumonia in both lungs. In an update on Killswitch’s condition, Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com provided the following update…

“He is doing much better. I am told he is working hard towards a comeback and credits Tony Khan and AEW medical staff for not only being patient with this, but but also telling him to stay home the week before he collapsed, which may have saved his life. It was very serious.”

There is no word regarding when Killswitch will return to AEW television.

]]> Last week, it was reported that Killswitch aka Luchasaurus was hospitalized due to having pneumonia in both lungs. In an update on Killswitch’s condition, Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com noted the following during Wrestling Observer Live…

“I don’t want to say it’s a career-ending issue, but it could be a career-ending issue. He’s not back in the gym and he will not be back in the gym for a while and he’s not going to be back wrestling, probably, for a while. Hopefully, he will be back wrestling in a while.

Apparently, there were complications. He ends up getting this flu and bad oxygen uptake as a result of whatever else, turned into pneumonia. And apparently he’s at high risk for a relapse, is what I was told. The big concern is that after all of this, they’ve been running test after test, and apparently there may be permanent damage.

They found calcification in a heart valve and his body is not producing iron and so he’s got a whole bunch of tests that he apparently has to take. It’s bad. It’s bad enough that he’s out of the hospital, apparently, but he still has to do oxygen.”

]]> According to a report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com, AEW star Killswitch aka Luchasaurus is recovering after his fiance found him collapsed on Friday, September 27th 2024. Sapp noted the following…

“He was rushed to the hospital where they found his blood oxygen below 80 percent and determined he had pneumonia in both lungs. It was discovered that he was days away from permanent lung damage. Killswitch has been on oxygen in the days that have followed, and was told to expect a recovery of over a month. His in-ring return is unclear.”

Killswitch last wrestled at the 2024 AEW All In: London PPV event.

]]> During the 11/22/23 edition of AEW Dynamite, there was a promo segment with Christian Cage. After his trio lost at Full Gear, Christian said that he was going to re-imagine Luchasaurus and Nick Wayne in his own image. Luchasaurus was named Killswitch after Christian’s finishing move. Wayne was also given “The Prodigy” as a new nickname.

Wayne’s mom came to the ring and she ended up being knocked down after Christian shoved Luchasaurus into her. Christian was going to make Luchasaurus give Wayne’s mom a conchairto but Adam Copeland made the save and ended up giving a conchairto to Wayne.
