Former WWE star Eva Marie did an interview with TMZ’s Inside The Ring podcast. Here is an excerpt from the discussion…

TMZ: “Have you had recently, or in the last 10 years or so, other wrestling companies reach out to you trying to get you back? Are there wrestling companies constantly trying to pull you back in at some level? I know there’s AEW now. There’s a lot more opportunity now, and it’s a lot more mainstream in other companies. Has that been a thing for you?”

Eva: “It was initially at the very beginning, and I kind of teeter-tottered and thought about it. But it’s also like, it would have to be done so good, and I wouldn’t want to try to recreate an Eva Marie. I feel like WWE was very much my home.

So, if I were to do something like that, one, the offer would have to be incredibly good. It would got to be a lot of zeros, and it would have to make sense where I would have some type of creative control.

Because what I have learned in doing the business is that helps a lot if you’re able to have a lot more input. A lot of us that are in WWE don’t—you’re basically hoping that the writers help you to the fullest and make the storyline something that’s so juicy and good, and then you get a payoff.”

While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Eva Marie addressed her wardrobe malfunction from a WWE match with Becky Lynch in 2016. Here is the excerpt…

Van Vliet: “The segment of you having the wardrobe malfunction has 47 million views on the WWE YouTube channel. What was the whole pitch for that segment?”

Eva: “So that whole kind of storyline was fun. There’s always going to be an excuse for me not to get in the ring. One I got stuck in traffic. The other one I hurt my knee, and then the wardrobe malfunction. I can’t remember who exactly thought of that idea, but it was pitched to me. I’m obviously easy, I really am, especially because I’m a bad guy as is, so I have removed really quickly being the hero or being like, the one that doesn’t look silly. Because I think that also is a big component in going into WWE. Sometimes some superstars have a really hard time with [being the butt of the joke], or not being the man. I kind of let that sh*t go, because it was like, it’s fine, here we are, and it worked.

People really did hate me. There’s a sign, and I can’t remember what city it was, it was like, if Eva Marie’s here, we riot. Or just this crazy little section of this is Eva Marie’s section or something so obnoxious, but it was fun, because they couldn’t wait to just talk sh*t to me when I came out. But the wardrobe one was gnarly, because it’s live television, so to make it realistic, we had to do like we did a run through with it, because the last thing that we needed was me actually dropping my top. So cameramen were paranoid, freaking out, so I was securely taped, but it came off pretty good.”

Van Vliet: “So what actually happens, because you actually do have a wardrobe malfunction?”

Eva: “I do, yeah. But the way that I’m holding it looks like, Oh, my God, it’s really happening, but I’m taped up. So if I literally let my hands go, it’s just flapping in the wind.”

Van Vliet: “What happens to your straps?”

Eva: “It basically just clips off and it just falls forward. And how it kind of came off on TV looked great. I liked how it just really did look like this is happening, like her top is literally falling off, and Becky played off it great.”

Former WWE star Eva Marie did an interview with Ring The Belle and here are the highlights…

A potential return to WWE: “So, because words mean a lot, and I feel like you can speak whatever you want into existence. I love WWE. I’m very grateful to WWE. I love the WWE Universe. I mean, I feel like you can’t get enough of the Evaution. I would love to come back and stir things up. There’s nothing better than going out there and ruffling some feathers. So, yeah, the possibility, for sure, it’s always possible.”

Her time in NXT: “So I’m a Virgo, I am a perfectionist and I was really thankful for the position that God gave me like out the gate. However, I didn’t have the time to really hone in my craft at all because I was on the road. Then you don’t really have the training time in the ring. We were filming Total Divas too. So any free time I was filming Total Divas. So the time to actually train in ring was very, very minor. I wanted to do it for myself essentially, because I loved WWE. I loved wrestling and I felt for myself, I know what I can accomplish, which obviously is one of those things that obviously still haunts me to this day. I would love to say that I was champ and to have the title and have a massive title run or a massive storyline. Because if you look at my career, really, I never really had like a huge storyline, like a massive one that was like continuous for months. I’ve had great ones. When I was in NXT, one of my favorites is me and Bayley.”

Working with AJ Lee: “She was actually fantastic. Because looking back, I have to give a lot of love to many of the girls, especially working with me out the gate because they didn’t know who I was until after obviously, you know, me being there for a little while and them getting to know me as like a person and not like the Eva Marie character. For them to have the patience to be willing, gracious enough to kind of guide me through a lot of the things that we did or any of the work that we did together is amazing. Its huge because that’s hard, especially when you’re at such a high caliber and a high level and then to also have to in a sense dumb it down for somebody that literally had just weeks previously learned how to take her first back bump like that’s kind of insane so I really appreciate it and I had a great time like, she was awesome and really easy to work with.” (quotes courtesy of Fightful.com)

On Friday morning, former WWE star Eva Marie became a trending topic on Twitter when she teased another WWE comeback. In a video published to her Twitter account, Marie tossed a Lilly doll towards a trash can with the caption “If I Make This, I’m Going Back To WWE.” The video ended just as the doll bounced off the lid.

During an interview with the United Kingdom’s Metro, Doudrop talked about Eva Marie being released from WWE…

“Honestly, I’m absolutely heartbroken because that woman is a big sister to me. Behind the scenes, she is the nicest person you will ever meet… Every single person, she’s got a funny story with them. I just love her so much. I hope it’s not the last we’ve seen of her in WWE, I think she’s amazing. When you see her in real life, you’re like… you’re amazing at being a heel. But time will tell – who knows what will happen in this crazy world?”

“I feel like everything that has been thrown at me, I’ve knocked out of the park – especially being with Eva. She obviously has been here before so for me it was a bit calming to have someone that had the experience, and who could guide me.”

Doudrop has been left heartbroken after Eva Marie got released by WWE this week. The Queen’s Crown finalist, who has been locking horns with Bianca Belair and Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch on the current UK tour, was called up to the red brand alongside the returning superstar and she was saddened to see her let go along with over a dozen wrestlers.

Nia Jax and Eva Marie were both victims of brutal attacks by Shayna Baszler during consecutive weeks on WWE RAW.

In regards to Nia, she was not backstage at Smackdown and was drafted to RAW on Talking Smack. Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com noted the following regarding Nia’s status…

“The word making the rounds is she may be taking an extended period of time off, so her attack by Baszler was to write her off TV for the time being.”

Johnson reports that Eva was backstage at Smackdown and was even wearing a sling to sell the attack by Baszler. WWE’s storyline announcement was that Eva “is being treated for a possible dislocation of her elbow following another brutal attack by Shayna Baszler.”

During an appearance on Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions podcast, Eva Marie talked about what led to her returning to WWE…

“I had a conversation with Vince [McMahon]. We basically — emails.

So that’s basically how it started, just because of always keeping in contact via email of things I was doing outside of WWE, making sure that he was fully aware of Eva Marie is willing and ready to come back whenever you see fit and that door is open on my end so it’s one of those things to where if you want something, go ask for it or go get it and make sure that other person or avenue kind of knows about it so that way they’re not fully closed off, and what’s the worst that could happen? It’s just you’re in the position before where you were originally.”

Marie also commented on working with Doudrop…

“I love working with her [Doudrop/Piper Niven], she’s phenomenal. Not only just an incredible athlete, but some people I’m really fortunate because when we first met, we exchanged messages prior to actually meeting in person and we just hit it off. We knew we were gonna work together, but we just didn’t know what that was going to look like quite yet.”

In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani to promote the 2021 WWE Summerslam PPV, Eva Marie talked about her battle with alcohol addiction over the years…

“I think that’s one of the things I’m most proud of. Another reason that I came out publicly on Total Divas season one [was] just because I really feel when you have something that you might be ashamed of or you might be embarrassed by or whatever, you take out any of the power of anybody else when you speak about it first. So I really wanted to speak of that pretty quickly just so that way nobody could beat me to the punch per se. Once I did, there were so many people that reached out to me just saying thank you because either they’re struggling with addiction or it’s in their family or their boyfriend, cousin, somebody closely related to them, and for me to be able to kind of showcase that I work at this thing every day. That’s why in life my motto is ‘one day at a time’ because I work a 12-step program, I have a sponsor, I sponsor other women, I go to AA meetings. I’m really open and honest about it because addiction is real and I have to work through that every single day. I celebrated eight years [sobriety] in March. It’s something I used to be ashamed of and didn’t wanna like tell anybody about, but now it’s one of the things I’m very proud of because without my sobriety I wouldn’t be sitting in this chair talking to you. I wouldn’t have an amazing husband, a beautiful marriage, and be on SummerSlam. I would not even have this job if I wasn’t sober and working a 12-step program. So it’s one of those things that I definitely when I can shout it from the top of my lungs because it’s given me everything.”

“I’m Mexican-Italian, so it was a very strict household. I’m the youngest of all boys, but the moment that I left my parent’s house to venture into college and things of that nature, that’s when things started to unravel and get out of hand. It was like ‘no curfew, oh my God, I can do this, I can do this.’ I first got sober at 23 because of my oldest brother, he got me sober and I look up to him to this day. Wrecking cars, getting DUIs, and going to jail. Those aren’t normal things, especially not how I was raised and I knew that I didn’t want to be that person. I think that was one of my really low moments, but I had to fall a lot more to figure it out, to actually make the decision. The ultimate thing is so many people can steer you in the right direction – parents, brothers, sisters, your family – but if you’re not willing to put in the work because that’s the thing, it’s so simple to get sober but it’s so difficult at the same time. That’s why they say it’s a simple program but you gotta put in the work because it’s hard. So I got sober at 23 and I had three years of sobriety and I guess I decided to take over the wheel and thought that I was in control again. I was like ‘I got this, I was young, no biggie, I’m fine.’ I called my sponsor, I said ‘thank you so much, I love you.’ Normal things were coming back to me, a driver’s license being one, being a normal member of society was starting to happen and I was like ‘I’m good.’ Then as soon as I decided to do that I kind of stopped doing what I knew was working and that’s when things got out of hand again. Then I got sober again at 28 and now this is my second time and hopefully the last time because it’s hard making it back.” (quotes courtesy of 411Mania.com)
