The X-Factor: Defending Nikki and Brie - Part 2 Submitted by Victor Mariscal on 02/20/2020 at 04:40 PM
Yes, this is the second time I’ve used a column to stick up for these twins. Why? Well I can’t stand bullying which is what Nikki and Brie have had to take nonstop for years.
The haters sit on their iPads making their snide comments. They think by dissing them that way they sound tough. Some people comment that Nikki got pregnant just to stay relevant. Sure.
It’s time for some reality.
Right away, you’re thinking they’re undeserving of it. Why? Did they not put in the training? Have they not put in the travel hours working full time? Did they make bad PR for WWE? They became successful and they shouldn’t have to apologize for it. That’s like asking Tom Brady to say sorry he won six rings.
You gonna bring up for the 1,000th time that Nikki slept with John Cena to get ahead? By that logic, Triple H slept his way to the top. For 8 out of the last 10 WrestleMania’s, he had the longest match. Shall I bring up the “Reign of terror”? How about we ask Stephanie how she likes her position?
There are those more than deserving of induction, that’s a given. The high standard set by those legends shouldn’t make others unworthy. It’s unfair to compare Nikki and Brie’s careers to the legends already in. Also, the smart fans’ opinions are not the only ones that matter. The twins do have a large fan base. I sat next to two of those fans at the 7/4/17 Smackdown and I had a blast enjoying the show with them. Total Divas opened the door for more casual fans to start watching. There would be no “Miz and Mrs.” without that show, just like there wouldn’t be MizTV without Piper’s Pit. WWE branched into the wider entertainment world thanks to Total Divas.
You look at the list and you’re a bit upset that “this guy” isn’t in or “that team” isn’t. Owen Hart can’t get in, and we know why. To say nothing of his in-ring career, Owen was one of the nicest, funniest and warm-hearted guys around. I look at the list and see some people who don’t deserve it if they were judged by their real-life selves. WWE almost lost Snickers as a sponsor two years ago because of The Fabulous Moolah.
You can check her Wikipedia to see what I mean. I’d rather not go into detail.
Mike Tyson did time for rape. Jimmy Snuka likely killed his girlfriend. Steve Austin hit his wife. What about Michael Hayes and his racism? The Ultimate Warrior was homophobic, plus he made a lot of enemies.
