Wrestle Review: Farewell to a King Submitted by Andy Sullivan on 08/03/2019 at 10:45 AM
This week saw the passing of a king, a legend. Harley Race was to wrestling what guys like Wilt Chamberlain were to basketball. A member of at least four hall of fames, 8x NWA champion, he wrestled anywhere and everywhere. I didn't really get into wrestling until the late '80's early '90's. At that point, Harley was "King" Harley Race in WWF. Of course I watched his legendary matches on WWE Network. We can continue to do so, thankfully. Rest easy, King.
Trish Stratus looked better than ever on Smackdown Tuesday night. I'm psyched for Trish and Charlotte at SummerSlam. Of course Charlotte will win. What would be the point of Trish winning. Unless she was going to stick around so the feud could continue.... I'll expand on this next week in my SummerSlam breakdown.
Another bit is "who "attacked" Roman Reigns. First, they sort of botched that segment Tuesday night, in my opinion. It just seemed cheesier than an ambush is supposed to seem. As far as the attacker, they wanted us to think Buddy Murphy by having him in the background. Now, reports are that it's Daniel Bryan and that we're getting Bryan vs Reigns at SummerSlam. I enjoyed their feud back in Fastlane 2015. I'd be cool with that feud revisited. I would've also been cool with Reigns and Joe in a # 1 contender match.
Dolph Ziggler vs Goldberg is rumored to happen at SummerSlam. Do we really need that match? I'd rather have Dolph vs Miz. Maryse' pregnancy negates any wrestling for Miz next week, though. If it is Goldberg vs Dolph, what kind of match do you think Bill can put on?
Last night, Sami Callahan defeated Tesssa Blanchard to become #1 contender to Bryan Cage's World Championship. I'm here for an eventual Callahan title run and the eventual Tessa Blanchard dethroning of Sami. I'd say that'd make some waves in the wrestling world, wouldn't you? As long as she doesn't pull a Medusa and go to another company and throw the belt in the trash. Lol
What will go down as we've reached the hone stretch on the road to SummerSlam? What other matches will be announced? Remember a time where the card was fully announced weeks before the event? Seems like forever ago, doesn't it? The lot of matches that have already been announced I'm anticipating. As I said, though, I'll get into that next weekend.
