News on WWE/vaccines; Belair addresses Sasha Banks Submitted by Aaron T-Bar Rift on 01/22/2021 at 05:31 PM
- According to a report on Fightful.com, WWE stars were notified via the company's talent relations app that they will not be receiving a Covid-19 vaccination through the company. The site noted that while some were expecting the company to set up vaccinations, others believed that they would have to take care of it themselves due to being independent contractors. Fightful also noted that there is frustration from within the company about the situation and that several behind-the-scenes people in WWE tested positive for Covid-19 following the news about Drew McIntyre having the virus.
- In an interview with SportingNews.com, Bianca Belair commented on a possible Wrestlemania 37 match against Sasha Banks for the Smackdown women's title:
“Everything I have approached in WWE I do it looking for a purpose. When I think about a dream match, Sasha Banks would definitely be at the top of my list. And to think about headlining WrestleMania with Sasha Banks, that would be more than just a match. It’s more than having a great match with an effort to tear the house down. Nah, that’s top-level representation that will go down in the history books for multiple reasons. It gives me goosebumps. That would be a dream come true not just for me, but for many people. That would be a very special night, and I can’t even explain what it would mean to me.”
It feels appropriate to speak with WWE Superstar Bianca Belair on Jan. 20, 2021. As a Black woman in the pro wrestling industry who has made it a point to focus on diversity and representation, to have this conversation as the first woman of color is being inaugurated as the vice president of the United States is significant.
