Update on Guevara/Hardy incident; Cobb's status with AEW Submitted by Aaron Rift on 08/12/2020 at 03:06 PM
- As previously noted, Matt Hardy was legitimately busted open by Sammy Guevara after Guevara threw a chair at Hardy's face on last week's episode of AEW Dynamite.
According to Fightful.com, the chair spot was reportedly planned but Guevara ended up using a heavier chair when he couldn't find the intended chair. There were apparently people in AEW that considered what Guevara did to be reckless since the match was pre-taped and things could have been handled differently. Hardy was said to be upset backstage but also felt lucky that he wasn't more seriously hurt.
Hardy played up on the incident with the following promo:
- In an interview with Fightful.com, Jeff Cobb commented on his AEW appearances from earlier this year and said that he thinks highly of the company. However, Cobb hasn't wrestled for AEW lately because he doesn't want to travel to Florida due to how the state has been handling the Covid-19 pandemic.
Cobb noted the following to WrestlingInc.com about his status in wrestling:
"Well, technically I'm a free agent until whatever group announces that I signed. I'm enjoying what I'm doing. I was going to make a decision but then this craziness kind of happened. So kind of just laying low until the company announces it, and then we'll go from there."
