Japanese wrestling promotion Stardom announced that Hana Kimura has passed away at the age of 22:

There was concern about her well-being after she posted photos on Twitter of severely sliced up arms and a message that read like a suicide note:

"Nearly 100 opinions every day. I couldn't deny that I was hurt. I'm dead. Thank you for giving me a mother. It was a life I wanted to be loved. Thank you to everyone who supported me. I love it. I'm weak. I'm sorry. I don't want to be alive anymore. It was a life I wanted to be loved. Thank you everyone. I love you. Bye."

The belief is that her death was a result of social media cyber bullying. Kimura appeared on a Japanese Netflix series Terrace House and there was an incident that led to her being sent "hundreds" of hateful messages. Dave Meltzer of described what happened:

"In an incident on Terrace House filmed in early January, a male housemate named Kai washed his clothes while her outfit that she wore at the Tokyo Dome was in the washer and then threw it in the dryer and ruined the outfit. She lost her temper and slapped him hard."

WWE stars Asuka, Kairi Sane, and Io Shirai commented on Kimura's death with the following messages roughly translated from Japanese...

Kairi Sane: "I lost an important irreplaceable companion. There are holes in my heart and it is difficult to accept this reality. I was able to notice her tweet right away because it was afternoon in the United States by the time difference (midnight in Japan time) and I called Jungle Screamer [Kyona] and Rossi Ogawa with Io immediately. Kyona went with all her might. However… I didn't make it in time."

Io Shirai: "No more sadness. I still can't believe it and I still can't take it."

Asuka: "I don't know where to put this sad feeling and I can't find the words to say ... I remember when Hana was still a little girl, she always came to the venue with her grandmother [Mother]. I got a lot of emails every day for several years before I moved to the US, telling me not to die, break [leave] female wrestling, leave this industry. And today, I was wondering if you couldn't make a comment even though other players are making comments. I'm too keen on my sense of justice and I don't realize that I'm the same. This is scary."
