Submitted by Aaron Rift on 05/20/2020 at 09:09 AM

Overnight, a lifeless body was discovered at Venice Beach, CA near the location where former WWE star Shad Gaspard went missing on Sunday. Officials initially stated that the body matched the description of Gaspard and TMZ.com later noted the following:

"The L.A. County Coroner has identified the body found on L.A.'s Venice Beach as ex-WWE superstar Shad Gaspard."

As previously noted, Gaspard was swimming with his son at a beach in Southern California on Sunday but got caught in a strong rip current. Gaspard's son and several others were rescued but Gaspard was unable to be saved. According to reports, Gaspard instructed lifeguards to save his son prior to disappearing into the water.

"He was going to try to rescue both," lifeguard section Chief Ken Haskett told NBC News. "But the father. in his last few words, said, 'Save my son.'"
