Latest details on Gaspard incident and WWE's statement Submitted by Aaron Rift on 05/19/2020 at 07:53 PM
Kenichi Haskett of the Los Angeles County Fire Department Lifeguard Division provided some first-hand details on Shad Gaspard's disappearance at a Southern California beach and the rescue efforts:
“We had one of our lifeguards go out to make a double rescue of a father and a son. The father unfortunately got pushed down by a wave as they were getting pulled out of the current.”
“The lifeguard rescued and grabbed the boy, the son, and tried to grab the father as well. He ended up getting pushed down by a wave and we couldn’t find him and we immediately started with our rescue boats, called in additional lifeguards to search that location [for] his dad.”
"The best way I can describe it is like being inside a front-loading washing machine. The waves keep crashing on you, pushing you down. ... I've been through that, those kind of rescues. You think you might die."
WWE issued an official statement regarding Gaspard:
