It was announced on Sunday that Rick Achberger, better known to wrestling fans as the superfan WWE “Sign Guy,” passed away following recent health issues. WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque issued a statement via Twitter/X…

“Saddened to hear of the death of Rick Achberger, known to the WWE Universe as ‘Sign Guy.’ For decades, Rick was a fixture at events holding a sign that expressed exactly how he felt about you that given evening. He will be missed by the entire WWE family. We send condolences to his family and friends.”

On the RAW after WrestleMania 21 in 2005, Triple H got right in the face of Achberger at ringside.

In a post via Twitter/X on September 27th 2026, AEW officially announced that Pac has passed away at the age of 40. Here were some of the immediate reactions from the wrestling world…

In a post via Twitter/X on September 27th 2026, AEW officially announced that Pac has passed away at the age of 40. AEW issued the following statement…

“All Elite Wrestling is saddened to announce the passing of Benjamin Satterley, aka Pac. A native of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Satterley began his wrestling career in 2004 and went on to perform for wrestling organizations all over the world, captivating fans with innovative high-flying moves and incredible in-ring ability. Pac signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2019 and held multiple AEW Championships and competed in some of the most memorable matches in AEW history. Our condolences go out to Satterley’s family, friends and fans.”

No further details are known at this time. Pac wrestled at AEW All Out on Saturday night against Andrade. Pac previously worked as Neville in WWE.

WWE Superfan “Sign Guy” Rick Achberger reportedly passes away

Rick Achberger, better known to wrestling fans as WWE Sign Guy, has reportedly passed away. Achberger was a well-known WWE fan who regularly attended events wearing a blue workman shirt and red hat while holding up signs. WWE acknowledged his fandom when he appeared on an episode of Howie Mandel’s game show, Deal or No Deal, in 2007.

WCCW World ClassCast’s Lance Petersen reported the news via Twitter/X…

“It’s with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of WWE Sign Guy Rick Achberger, today Sunday 9/27/26. He was an absolute great guy and loved talking with fans at the shows. He tackled some health problems a couple of years ago, but last month began to go downhill rapidly. Rest in peace.”

Former WWE Champion Big E reacted to the news…

Former WWE star Dijak to wrestling fans: “Voice your opinion, but don’t be a dick”

Following the 2026 AEW All Out PPV event, former WWE star Dijak posted the following message to his Twitter/X account…

“There is a growing trend lately among some segments of the pro wrestling fanbase where people are showing an abhorrent and complete lack of empathy for professional wrestlers getting legitimately injured.

I understand this is a grey area because, on the one hand, we are literally always presenting you with the story of, ‘Hey, watch this jerk get hurt because it’s what they deserve.’ I also understand that this is often further compounded by the fact that we also often present the story of, ‘They are actually hurt… just kidding, they are a faking jerk.’

That being said, try to err on the side of caution when appropriate. That’s a real human being with real emotions trying to process the extent of their injury in real time and how it will impact the people in their lives who rely on them physically and/or financially.

Or, for another common example, there is a real person in that viral clip that you jokingly commented on, and they might now have to deal with the potential lifelong ramifications of a serious head/neck/body injury.

Do we sign up for this? Yes. Do we understand the risks? Yes. Are some of us financially compensated handsomely for this risk? Some, yes, but not most.

None of this changes the fact that anyone who has ever stepped foot in a pro wrestling ring did that with the intent of entertaining you, the people, the fans, and if something legitimately negative happens to us on our journey toward achieving that goal, we don’t want to be mocked or ridiculed for trying our best to bring you joy.

This includes another common circumstance in the pro wrestling world, and that’s wrestlers getting fired/released/un-renewed.

Do some wrestlers say or do controversial/polarizing things? Yep. Are some just genuinely bad people who do genuinely bad things? Unfortunately, yes.

Try your best as an observer to critically identify when this is factually and definitively the case, and then directly address that action or statement as opposed to abstractly determining that the wrestler ‘got what they deserved,’ which doesn’t facilitate any meaningful change or influence, it just adds on more negativity.

Long story short, enjoy, have fun, have an opinion, voice your opinion, but don’t be a dick.”

In some instances the negativity was audibly taking place at the venue in real time. As someone who follows the entire pro wrestling landscape closely and from a unique perspective, I can tell you all that this unfortunate trend has grown rapidly over the past 6 months to the point where I see multiple incidents on a weekly basis.”

Why I think it’s too early to talk about WWE moving WrestleMania out of Saudi Arabia

First of all, I get it. The situation in the Middle East isn’t getting any better, and it’s a security risk for anybody to actually go to Saudi Arabia, as they are a big ally of the United States, which means that they are an enemy of Iran in this dumb war that Trump started for absolutely no reason.

But at the same time, we’re six months away from WrestleMania, and this is an unpredictable situation that could go either way, considering who’s in charge of fixing it. Here’s why I feel it’s way too early to talk about WWE moving WrestleMania out of Saudi Arabia.

1. They have to focus on a Plan B for Crown Jewel

Right now, there are way more pressing matters for WWE than thinking about what’s going to happen six months from now. They have a scheduled Saudi PLE in a little over a month, which will probably have to be moved considering the current security risk they would face if they go to Saudi Arabia as planned.

The thing is, WWE has no choice but to produce Crown Jewel as planned because of its commitment to ESPN, which is expecting a show on that date. The security risk isn’t going to be lifted in time for them to go in November, and considering most major entertainment events in the area have already been postponed, I think the Saudi government would understand if WWE goes to Plan B for Crown Jewel, whatever that plan is.

So for now, they have more pressing things to think about than whether they will move WrestleMania or not.

2. The unpredictability of the situation

If you follow the news, you probably know how unpredictable Trump is and how unpredictable this whole mess of a conflict is. Nobody knows what’s going to happen between now and April.

The fact of the matter is that the United States started the whole mess, and Iran decided to attack the United States’ allies in the Middle East instead of attacking the United States itself, as it’s easier to attack countries that are in the same region as you are than to go into an all-out war and attack a country that is thousands of miles away.

So the point is, we don’t know what’s going to happen between now and April, and WWE doesn’t either. Only those in charge know, and you never know. Maybe Trump will put his ego aside and actually make a deal with Iran that is going to be good for both sides between now and then. Maybe he won’t, and this will escalate even further.

But WWE is playing the waiting game right now, just like the rest of us. All they can do is slowly start making a Plan B, just in case they are forced to move the show.

3. The money side of things

The last thing we need to take into consideration is the money side of things. Yes, TKO is making big profits every quarter based on how high ticket prices have been and all of the big-money international deals they have made to bring their big PLEs to different countries, and none is bigger than the Saudi deal.

Which means that if they are forced to move WrestleMania out of Saudi Arabia next year, not only would they lose a lot of money from this, but it would also cost them a lot of money just to get a last-minute deal to move it somewhere else.

The other thing that we need to realize is that if, by some unlucky chance, they are forced to move WrestleMania out of the country next year, that only means that in 2028, Saudi Arabia will get WrestleMania anyway. They would likely prioritize Saudi Arabia over anybody else considering the amount of money they are making from the deal. So we will get a WrestleMania from Saudi Arabia eventually anyway.

Conclusion

While I think it’s too early for WWE to think about moving WrestleMania out of Saudi Arabia, I’m sure that WWE is already planning a Plan B and Plan C in case they’re forced to move it.

The bigger preoccupation for WWE right now is the November 7th show in Saudi Arabia and what they do with it, which will tell us a lot about what they will do for WrestleMania next year. If they move Crown Jewel somewhere else, then there’s a really good chance that they will move WrestleMania somewhere else next year if they have no choice.

But if they go ahead with the Crown Jewel show as planned, then we know that WrestleMania isn’t going to be moving out of Saudi Arabia next year.

In the end, the power to have these shows moved is ultimately in the hands of the employees and wrestlers, since participation in those shows is voluntary. So if nobody on the roster or in production is willing to take the risk of going to Saudi Arabia right now, WWE will have to move the show. The same goes for WrestleMania in April of next year.

So until then, all we can do is play the waiting game and hope everything will be okay by then.

Former WWE star Joe Gacy issues statement after getting hurt at wrestling event

Former WWE star Joe Gacy, now known as Joseph Sawyer, appeared to suffer a knee injury during his GCW Championship defense against John Jeffrey at GCW.

Sawyer was caught with a cannonball in the corner and immediately rolled out of the ring, appearing to limp as the referee checked on him. He later took to the microphone and said he might be out for months before leaving the ringside area.

The match was Sawyer’s second of the night. He had defended the GCW Championship against Jazzy Yang shortly before facing Jeffrey.

Looks like Joseph Sawyer got hurt here.
Said he might be done for months, stormed out and left the GCW Championship.

Sawyer later provided an update on Twitter/X with the following message…

So yes I think I’ll be okay for now.”

Sawyer wrote a follow-up post on Sunday morning, “Actually walking better already this morning thank you to everyone that reached out .”
