NoDQ.com > UFC > Ortiz and Coleman have words after UFC 109
Posted by Bobby Spade on 02/07/2010 at 01:08 PM

Thanks to FightLine.com for the following:

After nearly a decade, Mark Coleman finally got a chance to face Randy Couture tonight at UFC 109: Relentless. The two legends were originally scheduled to face each other at UFC 17 in 1998, however Couture had to bow out of the fight due to an injury. While Coleman holds a victory over Couture when the two wrestled in a freestyle match at the 1989 Olympic Festival at Oklahoma State, he found himself on the losing end of the battle of the Hall of Famers.

"The guy's tough, the guy's real tough," Coleman noted of Couture after the bout. "I don't know what the hell happened, I'm disappointed. I think I can do better, I won't quit, I'll be back."

Coleman was originally scheduled to face Tito Ortiz last November at UFC 106, however had to bow out of the fight after he suffered an injury. A war of words broke out between the two camps, with Ortiz calling Coleman a "sissy" for dropping out of the fight.

The war or words quickly got personal when Coleman's business manager responded by insulting Ortiz's wife, Jenna Jameson, stating that "the only thing Coleman is afraid of when it comes to Tito is contracting swine flu from that dirty ass d-bag. We all know where he lays his head down at night. Tito wants to get personal with a legend? OK, let's get personal - we can all go to our porn collections and watch what Tito sleeps with night after night."

Ortiz and Jameson made sure to let it be known tonight that the bad beef between them is far from settled as Ortiz yelled "Payback's a b---h mother f--ker" from the crowd during Coleman's post-fight interview. He and Jameson proceeded to give Coleman the finger, and Coleman appeared to be heading into the crowd to confront Ortiz.

"F--k you, Tito," Coleman said on the microphone while being interviewed by Joe Rogan. "You're a douchebag."

The audience at the Mandalay Bay Events Center immediately sided with Coleman, chanting "F--k you, Tito."

UFC President Dana White admitted to not being surprised about the incident during the UFC 109 post-fight press conference.

"When isn't there bad blood with Tito?" White asked. "[Coleman] just loses the most important fight of his life that meant more to him than anything. He loses, he's doing an interview and he's [Ortiz] screaming s--- at him?"

While the tirade certainly raised interest in an eventual Coleman - Ortiz bout, it's unlikely that it will happen anytime soon. Ortiz is currently filming season 11 of The Ultimate Fighter with arch-rival Chuck Liddell, and the two are scheduled to square off at UFC 115 in Vancouver in June.
