Sure former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir has never been Brock Lesnar’s biggest fan, but it doesn’t mean we won’t listen when he has something to say about the current champ. “I can understand from Brock [Lesnar's] point of view, if he’s not feeling up to it I can see him being a little bit nervous,” Mir recently told Cagewriter.

Lesnar was supposed to headline UFC 106 for his second unified title defense against #1 contender Shane Carwin on November 21st. Unfortunately for those who have already purchased tickets, the bout has been postponed because Lesnar has some sort of flu which has prevented him from training for the last several weeks.

Even though Lesnar has been in camp preparing for the bout, the fact that he’s taken a few weeks off due to illness would almost be like fighting on short notice, if not worse.

Mir understands why Lesnar would’ve been hesitant to jump into the Octagon with Carwin unprepared, he wouldn’t do it himself.

“I’m not taking a Shane Carwin fight on short notice, I’m sorry,” Mir continued to say. “That’s a really tough human being.”

However, Mir also went on to agree with Carwin when he stated that, if Carwin had been the one who had fallen ill instead of Lesnar, the main event for UFC 106 would still be a-go between the two.

“I agree. Shane Carwin probably wouldn’t have pulled out of the fight, because he’s fighting for the title and he’s super, super hungry. Maybe Brock’s a little bit more content,” the former champion said in closing.

It’s certainly a lot easier to be content when you have UFC gold around your waist.
