According to sources close to both camps, welterweight contenders Mike Swick and Martin Kampmann are set for an old-fashioned Texas showdown when UFC 103 hits Dallas, TX on September 26th of this year. The Swick/Kampmann fight joins Hermes Franca vs. Tyson Griffin and Josh Koscheck vs. Frank Trigg as the initial matchups speculated for the main card of the event scheduled for Dallas, TX.

UFC 103 marks the second foray into Texas for the UFC and is also a pivotal event in that it is slated to go head-to-head in a PPV battle of its own against boxing’s “cash king” Floyd Mayweather’s as he makes his return fight against popular Mexican fighter and consensus #2 pound-for-pound boxer Juan Manuel Marquez.

As for the rumored Mike Swick and Martin Kampmann bout, the winner of this fight would have a strong case for top contender status in line for an upcoming title shot against the winner of the UFC 100 welterweight title fight between Georges St. Pierre and challenger Thiago Alves.

Both fighters enjoy a good bit of momentum headed into this showdown. The AKA product, Swick (14-2), is enjoying a four-fight win streak after a decision loss to fellow top contender Yushin Okami. In his last fight at UFC 99, Swick dismantled ATT’s Ben Saunders via TKO.

Meanwhile, Kampmann (15-2) has been making waves himself. He was last seen spoiling the UFC debut of the last WEC welterweight champion, Carlos Condit. “The Hitman” looks for his third straight win against Swick.
