This past Saturday’s “The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale” attracted 2.8 Million viewers at its highest peak, earning Spike TV and the UFC top billing in their key Men 18-34 demographic.

The live airing of the event, between 9PM ET-12PM ET, garnered more interest from that group from males, topping MLB on Fox and NBC’s coverage of a The U.S. Open, a tournament in which Tiger Woods did participate in.

Overall, the show delivered a 1.5 household rating, a 2.1 in Men 18-49 (1.2 million), a 2.3 in M18-34 (663,000), a 2.8 in M25-34 (468,000) and 2.2 million total viewers.

MMA fans were treated to an explosive card, arguably the UFC’s best show ever to appear live on Spike TV. Not only did the U.K.’s Ross Pearson and James Wilks each walk away with highly coveted six-figure deals for winning their respective TUF tourneys, but also a scrap between main event fighters Diego Sanchez and Clay Guida that could go down as one of the year’s best.

The two Energizer Bunnies battled for 15 relentless and brutal minutes. The fight ended with both men battered and bloodied, however it was Sanchez that walked away with his hand raised.

“TUF 1 winner Sanchez edged Guida in a controversial split decision inside The Pearl at The Palms Hotel & Resort in Las Vegas.
