This is where you find out what people are made of. How people respond to adversity is the true sign as to whether or not they are going to succeed down the road. It’s now Rashad Evans’ turn to travel that path and see if he can bounce back from a tough loss.

Evans has the proper mindset to get back to the top of the light heavyweight division. “The only thing you can do is go forward. Whenever you get knocked down, you just gotta keep going forward.” Evans told Joe Rogan following his UFC 98 loss to Lyoto Machida.

It wasn’t just a loss for Evans though, he lost his title and got knocked out for the first time in his career.

“This is my first time ever losing so you just gotta take it how you give it.” Evans continued.

For 19 fights, Evans has been giving it and now he’s the one who has to take it. At only 29 years of age, he has plenty of time to win back the UFC light heavyweight title but the question is, how will this loss effect him? Odds say that this probably won’t be the only loss of his career but it’s his first and most important loss he’ll probably ever have to endure.

“Every time you come out here you get a chance to prove yourself, maybe next time I’ll do better.” Evans said before leaving the Octagon.
