Ring of Honor returned last night to Edison, NJ to a crowd of 650-700 for a solid show.

Pre-show

  • Pelle Primeau/Titus defeated Sugarfoot/Grim Reefer. Reefer got a surprising pop from the crowd, which he acknowledged.

  • Jagged 2.0 over Mitch Franklin

    Main show

  • Brent Albright submitted El Generico with a "crowbar" armbar, after a german suplex, t-bone suplex, armbar succession.

  • Shane Hagadorn defeated Bobby Dempsey to retain the "Top Of The Class" trophy

  • Delirious defeated Jason Blade. Delirious is a popular cult favorite in ways that ROH could likely have never foreseen.

  • Jimmy Jacobs went to a non-contest with BJ Whitmer in a sick old school ECW style brawl with triple juice (including the referee) after Jacobs pulled a spike from his boot. In sick move #1 of the night, Jacobs took a powerbomb into the crowd. The end of the match saw Lacey screeching in a voice that only dogs could hear, followed by an attack by Daizee Haze, who then looked horrified as she took a look at Whitmer, and called for help from the back, and the match ended without a finish.

  • Roderick Strong defeated Shingo to retain the Full Impact Pro Wrestling Title. This apparently meant that the use of tables and chairs were legal (a point which could have been explained to the crowd...and will need to be more than once again as FIP storylines are to be incorporated into ROH matches over the coming year).

  • Christopher Daniels and Matt Sydal defeated Claudio Castagnoli and Chris Hero (Kings of Wrestling) to win the ROH World Tag Team Titles . A great match, that didn't get the blow-away pop that you'd think...with the CZW "invaders" finally being beaten.
Great final 8-10 minutes of highspots, as Sydal in particular stood out with some innovative stuff.

  • Post-intermission, Nigel McGuinness defeated Jimmy Rave - Rave seems lost without the Embassy and Prince Nana. ROH is apparently trying to get away from the comedy character as fans were stopped and told they can't bring in toilet paper any longer to do their Rave salute. It seemed that fans voted their opinion of that move by sitting on their hands throughout this match. Rave's entrance might just as well have had crickets chirping. Rave's far more than capable than to need a comedy character, but the comedy character was built so strong previously that it'll be hard anytime soon to get over Rave as a serious wrestler...plus as it seemed, the crowd didn't like "having their fun spoiled" and voted with their silence.

The match had an agonizingly slow buildup given the lack of heat. At one point, it was so quiet, someone started a sing-song "Awk-ward Si-lence" chant that broke up the crowd. It seemed designed to get over Rave as a tood conventional wrestler...which it did until the strange angle where post-match, Rave refused the ROH handshake from McGuinness, who then put him over on the mike. Then, inexplicably, McGuinness hit him in the back with a roll of toilet paper that somehow made its way into the building. This led to a strange angle where Rave got pissed off, and "walked out of ROH".

  • In an seriously stiff match, Davey Richards defeated Austin Aries. Richards is showing his talent each and every match he works.

  • Samoa Joe and Homicide defeated Mark and Jay Briscoe in an elimination street fight that ended with duel pinfalls, with Joe getting a muscle buster and Homicide a copkiller (doesn't duel pinfalls kind of render the elimination match stip moot?). The match saw wild brawling into the crowd. In keeping with the fact that the Inman shows take place in a street hockey rink, Joe put on a hockey helmet, grabbed a stick, and body checked Mark into the boards. Insane spot number 2 of the night saw Jay
doing a sick shooting star press off of the ring entrance scaffold.

Post-match, Joe told Homicide that he would be facing him at Final Battle, as he expects to be champion by then.
