As of April 8, Impact Wrestling moves back to Thursday night. In contrast, NXT is making a post-WrestleMania move back to Tuesday nights. Was Impact not wanting to compete with WWE? That can't be the case, as Impact is having their next Impact Plus special, Rebellion, on the first night of WrestleMania. That should be an eventful weekend!
There was news this week that Cody and Brandi Rhodes would have a reality show, Rhodes to the Top, on TNT. Of course people will say, or are already saying, that it's AEW copying WWE again since they have Miz and Mrs. First of all, USA has Miz and Mrs. Other people have reality shows. Not everything is a competition between AEW and WWE. Now, If they put Rhodes to the Top in the same time slot as Miz Mrs., that's another story.
We officially have a triple threat for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania. Roman Reigns vs Edge vs Daniel Bryan was made official this past week on Smackdown. Also made official were Cesaro losing to, excuse me, facing Seth Rollins and Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens. Should be three solid matches, however predictable the outcomes may be. Predictions are for another time, though.
Quick hits: In my opinion, Miz deserves better than a match vs Bad Bunny. Kane is the next inductee to the WWE hall of fame. Very well deserved! I understand why they're waiting to induct Undertaker. WrestleMania is in Dallas next year. Undertaker is from Texas. Peacock removing controversial moments from WWE events was expected. First removed was Roddy Piper's WrestleMania IV promo and match vs Bad News Brown. Why? Because Piper painted half of his face black. A few days after Kane was announced, the Great Khali was announced for the WWE hall of fame. RVD was announced as well. This class makes me feel old.
As good as people say Impact is, it appears it hit a viewership low last year. Could it be that this "new era" and crossover isn't working as well as they'd hoped? Or maybe that's why they're injecting other promotions? I found it intriguing that Andrade tweeted "we are in talks. No waiting 90 days". What could he be driving at? Could he be headed to Impact? Let's be honest, if he headed to AEW, he'd either be saddled with a Miro-type gunnick in terms of silliness or would be sitting in catering. There are only so many spots for TV.
